Agree with a lot of what OP said. The crime, speeding cars, and open weed smoking are too much already. And hate that they keep dropping the school standards.

The problem for MoCo is that people are actually doing this. Affluent people in MoCo are moving to Virginia and being replaced by poor people from PG County and Latin America moving in, leaving population growth stagnant. Not a great policy for a robust tax base.

It is sitting idle with tumbleweeds for years even though it is between two Metro stops, across from a Whole Foods, and two blocks from Georgetown Prep. There is already planning approval for a multi-use town center style development with retail and thousands of housing units. Investors don’t think there are enough affluent people in the county with high paid jobs to pay for market rate new housing. It’s the same story at the Strathmore metro. Planning approval for almost a decade and nothing happening. The county had to throw subsidies at the investors in order to get a scaled down version of the approved plan built with less housing than anticipated.

Some people instead prefer to live in a fantasy land.
