"National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA): This act requires that states provide voter registration forms that include an affirmation that the registrant is a U.S. citizen." And, in some states, the only affirmation that is required is the registrant checks a box. That's it. So, yes - this law is needed. We have upward of 20 million people in our country illegally. If only 1% of them voted in a federal election, that would be 200,000 illegal votes. Enough to change the outcome of races depending upon where these people reside. |
Yea and people make stupid mistakes, that doesnt mean they should lose their right to vote. Ill add that it is insanely hard to get a birth certificate in certain states as evidenced by the person who supported the story above because each state functions separately. So they couldnt get a new BC without a license but couldnt get a license without a BC because of different state rules. There is no national system. And some IDs are REAL IDs that require crazy amounts of documentation and some are not. REAL IDs are a requirement for DHS but you cant avoid it in MD. What if you dont want to access flights but want to drive? There is no option for getting a license without meeting the REAL ID requirements now. It's just like GA stopping homeless people from voting because they dont have a residential address. Apparently you must LIVE at the place you list, which doesnt work for homeless people. You DONT GET TO TAKE AWAY SOMEONES RIGHT TO VOTE when there is no evidence of election fraud conducted by non-citizens. |
You dont get to decide that..... |
Sorry life’s not fair. Some people can’t perform basic life functions. |
This seems like a states rights issue. Voting is up to the states. |
Not for any federal elections. Nice try. ![]() |
The claims that there are any substantial amounts of illegals voting have been repeatedly debunked, and where they did try to vote, they were caught. The laws are sufficient and the system works. |
Yeah, just like the Civil War was about states' rights. It's interesting that none of you MAGAs dispute the difficulties of getting a voter ID or appear to defend states like Alabama, Wisconsin (when it was under a GOP governor) or Texas closing DMVs, limiting hours of operation, etc. It's just that poor, homeless person that can't figure out how to get one. Remind me again when you complain about the economy. Just make more money or get a better job moron. Or maybe it's like healthcare. Just get a better plan and eat better! Or maybe it's like home insurance in coastal areas. Just move! It's always that simple, amirite? |
Yet the laws say they cannot be disenfranchised from their vote for being stupid. If they could, we wouldn't have had Trump elected in 2016. |
Democrats want foreign nationals voting in U.S. elections and interfering with Americans right to control our own government. Traitors. |
That sucks, but if you are homeless… I feel like voting in a federal election is the least of your worries, ya know? |
It sounds like you didn’t read the bill or you would realize that the “affirmation” of citizenship is exactly what is being changed. Another change is the deportation of those found to have voted illegally. Why are you so determined to insist the bill is irrelevant instead of helping us to understand why Dems opposed it? |
What happened to them after they were caught? Because this bill is to force them to leave the country after attempting or successfully voting illegally. |
How do we know that? Sure, some were caught. But, were there more? And, might there be more widespread voter fraud in the future? And "substantial amounts (numbers, actually)" is what exactly? How many is "substantial?" In my opinion "substantial" is exactly one. Not too long ago a race in VA was decided by a coin flip because it ended up tied. One vote makes a difference. |
You voted for dark depends Brandon. |
