Exactly. Already happening in Washington, DC.

Actually you hate America. That is, unless someone's White, Christian and Male. Nazis and fascists aren't attending Democratic events.

My sister teaches in FFX county. There is assistance there for illegals, and my sister said there are some that abuse the system. They get free stuff for their kids including diapers, a lot donated by residents. They just get angry when the donations aren't available for them.

It's naive to say they aren't voting for Dork Brandon since he lacks the mental wherewithal to actually enforce the border laws.

The democrat party is ruled by the far left, they want the ruin the foundations of this country because they hate it as it is.

If you are here and you want to vote, then you should go to the DMV and get an ID. Fake allegations of racism aren't a reason to put our democracy at risk by allowing illegals to vote who have no allegiance to this country.

If the DMV is 175 miles a way, then you get there and get your ID.

It's that simple.

Ah yes, let's rely upon your sister's judgment to make policy for more than 300 million people. Of course, there are going to be bad actors that abuse the system. But sadly, this reads like a simpleton who has no idea what Democrats actually support and just gets talking points from an echo chamber. And please, enlighten us what the "far left". Your response to the voter ID question is laughable. Let's see - do you support making voter ID convenient and affordable and funding it nationwide? After all, it's our most basic right and freedom in this country. If so, then maybe we both can agree upon something. If you don't, then you know that you're part of the problem.

Non-citizens are already prohibited from voting by numerous laws and statutes, for example:

18 U.S. Code § 611: This federal law explicitly prohibits non-citizens from voting in federal elections, stating: "It shall be unlawful for any alien to vote in any election held solely or in part for the purpose of electing a candidate for the office of President, Vice President, Presidential elector, Member of the Senate, Member of the House of Representatives, Delegate from the District of Columbia, or Resident Commissioner, unless (1) the election is held partly for some other purpose; (2) aliens are authorized to vote for such other purpose under a State constitution or statute or a local ordinance; and (3) voting for such other purpose is conducted independently of voting for one of the offices referred to in this subsection."

National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA): This act requires that states provide voter registration forms that include an affirmation that the registrant is a U.S. citizen.

Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA): This law mandates that first-time voters who register by mail provide identification to verify their identity and citizenship.

Also, the Constitution effectively limits voting to citizens.

This bill is redundant, accomplishes nothing new, wasted time and money, and was nothing but performative theater by the Republicans for no good reason other than to feed into their BS narrative that illegal aliens are "replacing" Americans at the polls and everywhere else. These false Republican claims have repeatedly been debunked and disproven. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2024/may/20/mike-johnson/mike-johnsons-false-claim-that-immigrants-paroled/

This is the fact.

"National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA): This act requires that states provide voter registration forms that include an affirmation that the registrant is a U.S. citizen."

And, in some states, the only affirmation that is required is the registrant checks a box. That's it.
So, yes - this law is needed.

We have upward of 20 million people in our country illegally. If only 1% of them voted in a federal election, that would be 200,000 illegal votes. Enough to change the outcome of races depending upon where these people reside.

The claims that there are any substantial amounts of illegals voting have been repeatedly debunked, and where they did try to vote, they were caught.
The laws are sufficient and the system works.

How do we know that? Sure, some were caught. But, were there more? And, might there be more widespread voter fraud in the future?
And "substantial amounts (numbers, actually)" is what exactly? How many is "substantial?"
In my opinion "substantial" is exactly one. Not too long ago a race in VA was decided by a coin flip because it ended up tied. One vote makes a difference.

What do you mean "more" widespread voter fraud in the future? There wasn't widespread voter fraud in the first place, for there to then subsequently be "more" of. #StopTheSteal was nothing but a desperate, deranged conspiracy theory.

Better discuss your theory with Xi.

Hey buddy, you sound a little deranged. I don't want communism or whatever you think the "far left" wants. I want millionaires and billionaire's to stop being tax cheats and pay comparable rates to those that I pay or hey, maybe go back to the U.S. rates of the 1950s-1970s. I want affordable health care and fully funded Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid but also to take private equity out of healthcare. I want the border bill that the GOP pulled to pass. I polluters and other corrupt corporations to be held responsible when they f up with consumers and our environment. I want campaign finance reform and making it easy to vote while also strengthening voter ID protections (even though the actual rate of voter fraud is negligible). I want capitalism with guardrails. I also want infrastructure and for us to dream big on mega projects like the Interstate Highway System or Mission to the Moon and fund it. I want us to invest in basic science and research (not garbage non-replicable studies) and fund public education. We used to do those things but instead, we've just cut taxes, privatized public goods and let the plutocrats take over while we debate LGBTQ rights and fret over the next migrant caravan.

Hey 15:24,
We had excellent border security until you Democrats nixed everything on Day One.

“Under the current National Voter Registration Act, individuals attest to their citizenship by checking a box on registration forms. However, the SAVE Act proposes significant changes, requiring prospective voters to furnish documentation proving their citizenship. Accepted forms of proof include a U.S. passport, a photo ID card issued with proof of citizenship, or a combination of a photo ID and supporting documents like a birth certificate.

For those lacking these documents, states would gain access to federal agency databases to verify citizenship status for voter registration purposes, according to the text of the bill. The bill also includes provisions to remove noncitizens from voter rolls and grants discretion to the Department of Homeland Security to deport noncitizens found to have illegally registered to vote.“

Sounds good to me. Most countries require voter ID - why shouldn't we? Who on earth would vote against this?

In fact, EVERY other country requires voter ID.

Democrats just can’t win without cheating.

And these other countries also make it easily accessible to get a voter ID. You, of course, conveniently deny this point, which is the problem. With your lot, it's always projection. Why did Alabama close down a bunch of DMV in poor areas when there wasn't a recession? Hmmm? Why are you against making voter IDs cheap and accessible?

Voter IDs ARE cheap and accessible.

The current system prevents illegal immigrants and legal immigrants who are not citizens by providing a checkbox on voter registration forms for people to say that they are citizens. Beyond that no checking is done.

Saying it doesn't make it true. But I love how writing it BOLD makes it more persuasive. How about doing a little research on the facts? You know, the bare minimum to have an opinion?

By requiring and ID? How's that intimidation? Just get an ID. Everyone can get one.

Seems to me you hate democracy.

Actually, if your license is expired or suspended in one state and you lose it in another, then its almost impossible to get a new one. Just FYI. My younger brother who is a very busy kid kept procrastinating changing his license over, it expired and then his wallet got stolen. The state he is in requires an original birth certificate, which he ordered, and it took 4 months to arrive. And then he went back to get the license and they said he needed additional proof so my MOM has to fly out to where he lives to show HER ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE so they will give my brother a license. Because apparently having a valid original birth certificate is not enough, they need to see that my mom exists or something?

Did he make a stupid mistake- yes. Did he hopefully learn a listen- jesus christ, I hope so. Is it just as easy as walking in and getting one, no, not always.

So your idiot brother is the reason we should forgo election security, not protect our democracy and allow illegals to vote?

That's on your brother for being stupid, 99.9% of people can get an ID. To say they can't means you're the racist or the idiot. Which one is your brother? The idiot. Most people arguing minorities don't know how to use the internet or how to get to the DMV are racists. Jim Crowe Joe supports allowing illegals to vote.

Yea and people make stupid mistakes, that doesnt mean they should lose their right to vote. Ill add that it is insanely hard to get a birth certificate in certain states as evidenced by the person who supported the story above because each state functions separately. So they couldnt get a new BC without a license but couldnt get a license without a BC because of different state rules. There is no national system. And some IDs are REAL IDs that require crazy amounts of documentation and some are not. REAL IDs are a requirement for DHS but you cant avoid it in MD. What if you dont want to access flights but want to drive? There is no option for getting a license without meeting the REAL ID requirements now.

It's just like GA stopping homeless people from voting because they dont have a residential address. Apparently you must LIVE at the place you list, which doesnt work for homeless people. You DONT GET TO TAKE AWAY SOMEONES RIGHT TO VOTE when there is no evidence of election fraud conducted by non-citizens.

That sucks, but if you are homeless… I feel like voting in a federal election is the least of your worries, ya know?

Considering that there are 200 plus who voted in Atlanta no its not the least of their worries and again, YOU dont get to decide whether they vote or not. Gosh I can totally see why authoritarianism is on the rise. Whether its their worry or not they should still be able to exercise their constitutional right or does the constitution not matter anymore?
