It’s not redundant. Here’s SAN news
“Under the current National Voter Registration Act, individuals attest to their citizenship by checking a box on registration forms. However, the SAVE Act proposes significant changes, requiring prospective voters to furnish documentation proving their citizenship. Accepted forms of proof include a U.S. passport, a photo ID card issued with proof of citizenship, or a combination of a photo ID and supporting documents like a birth certificate. For those lacking these documents, states would gain access to federal agency databases to verify citizenship status for voter registration purposes, according to the text of the bill. The bill also includes provisions to remove noncitizens from voter rolls and grants discretion to the Department of Homeland Security to deport noncitizens found to have illegally registered to vote.“ |
So again, why are democrats against these proposals? |
Look, if you’re claiming that it wouldn’t make a difference one way or the other because “nobody is doing that!” then why can’t we have a law for it, since it would obviously make some people feel better? It’s like the abortions in the last couple of months of pregnancy without a major medical reason. If these things are “never” happening anyway, but some people obviously think they are happening and would prefer a law against it, why can’t we just have a law? It feels like you’re just being argumentative. I’d rather our country comes closer together, so if a few basic laws would help then I don’t see the problem. |
Try reading the bill. |
Republicans are supposed to be the party of stupid. Are we in for a party switch like we had with the southern strategy? |
Because fuqq your feelings. Isn't that what you all like to say? |
Because they know in a national election, non-citizens will vote provisionally and there won' be time to go back, investigate and invalidate those ballots before results are announced.
Democrats are playing the clock. |
Colleges pressured him into voting.
He had no idea he wasn't allowed to. |
It seems like a lot of this is the system failing to catch them, but others (like this user's girlfriend) are willfully voting as non-citizens.
|
Even the people who know about the legality of non-citizens voting are still somehow getting registered to vote.
What the hell is going on? |
This guy was just given voting rights without question at the DMV, voted in 2020, only to find out he wasn't a US citizen in 2021.
|
This guy thought he was signing a petition and ended up getting registered to vote, stopping his application for US dead in its tracks.
|
"Accidental Registration" should be completely impossible.
People working towards US citizenship are getting their applications denied for something many of them didn't even want to do in the first place. Voter Registration needs major reform NOW. |
NP. Why on earth would legitimate voters be intimidated? What a ridiculous statement. |
