Y'all forget America is imploding and feeding on itself. You think this is not lost on GenZ ??? They can't afford housing. They can't afford food. They can't afford medical care. They can't afford college. They're forced to live in their mother's basement. Every single member of GenZ knows someone who has died from fentanyl overdose (unless they're living under a rock). You think the disparity between the future they're facing vs. what was possible in their grandparent's generation is lost on them? Who is kidding whom? Of course they don't want to vote. They're not stupid. They see the forest while y'all are lost looking at the trees. |
Ask them questions sincerely and wait for their answers. Slowly ask them how will Trump be better than Biden. What do they think will change in terms of aid to Gazans under Trump? Furthermore, how will Muslims inside the US be treated if the GOP gets back in power. Etc. And above all, if you see a crack forming, do not gloat that you knew better. Nothing shuts a young person down faster than a parent’s smug face. |

Kicking out crooked Joe |
Start with acknowledging their feelings. Remind them of alternative but let them decide for themselves. In practice, “The situation in Gaza is both heartbreaking and maddening. You deserve your have a leader/president who holds your values. This election will come down to a choice. Think it like this: You deserve nutritious and delicious food to sustain you. On one hand you have dry whole-wheat toast, on the other you have an arsenic sandwich. You can choose either of these or go hungry and hope you can sustain yourself for a while until you are offered something better.” |
No. The choice is continuing support for Israel which will bring Trump in to power or treating Israel the same way we treat Russia, North Korea, Iran, etc. It is time for you to put your values/issues aside for the country unless you feel Israel is more important vs the continuation of US? |
Shaking finger at someone and telling them know you’re wrong, you’re stupid is not the persuasive argument you think it is. |
PP, I’d probably end it with something like, “one of these two men will be the next president. It’s your choice whether or not you want to have a say and who that is.” You need to give young people, heck, everybody an opportunity to feel that they are making a choice. |

The best you can do is to point out that there is almost a year before the election and ask them how they think they can have their voices heard while Biden still has time to make changes in his policy.
Are they writing their Democratic elected officials and saying they will vote on this issue? Calling campaign offices? They’re not wrong that the current policy is morally repugnant. But it is too soon to let this president off to hook for that policy, there are thousands of lives that could be saved. |
They don’t care about abortion as much as you might think because they are increasingly incels and femcels living in their parents’ basement with no social skills. Abortion and sex has to be a pressing, personal matter, and these kids are more isolated than any previous generation. |

This is what happens when people do not understand how a 2 party systen works. They do not even understand electoral college, but even worse, they don't understand how govt works in other countries, namely Russia, Iran, and the Middle East ( clouded by religion and culture here.) Line items are taken personally when the bigger picture is what only matters.
There will never be a free Palestine, a 2 state solution, or an end to this conflict under Trump. Never- this will be it. Ukraine- finished. It's called Big Picture. |
They see right through the lies. Just because he looks like a sheep doesn’t mean the fox is not there. At least trump is not begging for votes. Biden keeps buying votes or flip flipping (border issue) without any real fixes. |
No one is shaking a finger. Facts are apparently negotiable. It's almost like dealing with Trumpers. |

NP. I don’t get why you expect Gen Z to rush out and vote for Biden. This is the group that were shut out of schools and normal teen life for two years. Many of them are woefully uneducated. Colleges are ridiculously expensive while at the same time are grim, educational-Stasi environments that will expel a female student who dares to say she doesn’t think male-born athletes should compete against her while at the same time assiduously protecting and excusing administrators who cheat and falsify data. Rents are high while wages are low. If you get kicked off your parents health insurance at age 26, better hope you don’t get sick or you will be bankrupt. Abortion rights have been decimated in most of the country. Biden seems to be sleepwalking into a middle eastern war where Gen Z will get called up and die if it grows.
What this group sees clearly is neither party cares at all about them. Why should they even bother? |
If one of the “line items” is your family, and they’re dying in Gaza while American bombs fall on them, that is your whole picture. You might have a point on some other issues but for Arab-Americans Gaza is not a “line item” but rather a reflection of how much this Administration values the lives of their families. |
| I mean if Tawfic Hafeth Abdel Jabbar had miraculously survived being shot by Israelis would you really expect him to show up and vote for Biden? Would you expect him to tell his friends to do so? |
