Predictions for tomorrow?

But I need another day off!!! This isn't fair. I shouldn't have to put on pants and a jacket in the middle of winter.

Next time you know it you'll be expecting me to actually teach something in class. Luckily I've still got some movies to show the class.

Clearly a high school student posting.

Definitely. Trying to try to rile up the real teachers, I’m guessing. Not worth it.

I pray to god not. Everyone needs to return to normal. The pavement is dry. Has been dry for days.

It better stay that way without the 5am calls and texts…

Everyone knows MCPS is incompetent, but even so they would needed to be able to point to *something* to gave an excuse to let teachers sleep in.

I don't see how anyone could be surprised.

A few busses don’t start, a few roads closed, a few sick drivers and all of a sudden there are hundreds of kids out in cold they aren’t used to or dressed for for long periods of time… could get ugly.

Water main breaks? That didn't happen because it's moderately cold. The ground temperature is above freezing. Water mains break throughout the year.

You really need to spend a winter in Minnesota. You're wildly out-of-touch.

Stop comparing Montgomery County to Minnesota, or other northern parts of the country. Newsflash: we ARENT Minnesota. We aren't Chicago, which is why things are different here. Imagine that! Thats like expecting us to be prepared for 125 degree summers just because Arizona is.

Use. Your. Brain.

This is what I mean. You're wildly out of touch. There's nothing to prepare for for tomorrow other than spreading a bit of salt on the sidewalks around schools. There's no winter storm. It's not dangerously windy or cold. The vast majority of roads and sidewalks have been cleared. The only thing left to do is simply to open.

But a few people here are coming up with increasingly ridiculous reasons attempting to justify why MCPS shouldn't open.

The county MCPS website wording was posted verbatim here multiple times. You choose to see no hazard that’s on you.

Don't forget to set your alarm for tomorrow!
Time to go back to work.

What are you even talking about?

That PP has an unholy fixation on teachers and thinks anyone hoping for a snow day or a delayed opening works for MCPS. Very odd psychological fixation.

Pretty safe bet. Closures and delays only help teachers.

Whatever the decision for tomorrow, someone will be mad. That’s my prediction.

You're not my principal or department head-- you can't send me to bed.

I’m a parent who really appreciates those 2 extra hours in the morning. I love the chance for a slow breakfast. I love the calmer prep for school and work.

So you’re wrong. It isn’t just teachers.

Did you see where I added “and work” in my post? I’m not a SAHM.

I’m sorry that messes up your theory about teachers. I know many on this site just love to pick on them.
