She'll have no problem getting an offer for a remote job. Some people like employees with a backbone.

What backbone? She was fired for not meeting her performance metrics and publicly flamed her employer on the way out. Best predictor of future behavior is past behavior, why would anyone take the risk on this nutcase?

Exactly. She had nothing to loose. She was getting fired no matter what. Not like she stood up for a co-worker or blew a whistle. Cheap stunt.

If she had nothing to lose, then why are you claiming her reputation was harmed?

Different poster, I think she didn't have anything to lose with that employer because she was getting fired no matter what. But posting this online would likely harm her chances with other employers, if she would do this with Cloudfare of course she would do exactly the same with any other company.

If so, it is a very bad look to not have her supervisor on the call, which seems to support her claim that she received no negative feedback from her supervisor prior to being let go.

The reality is, Cloudflare was doing a RIF but wanted to avoid triggering the WARN Act provisions.

She would have a much stronger argument if she had made some sales. Zero sales and crying “but the holiday”, while perhaps understandable is a bad look for ruthless sales business. She will need to pivot out of sales clearly.

If you're in tech sales, then you would know no one is going to get new sales by January after starting at the end of August. Certainly not in Cloudflare's market.

And presumably her boss thought that to, since it is undisputed that the supervisor didn't express concern about that before the firing.

Now watch her get a new job in record time.

You might not like an employee that stands up for yourself, but there are people that do. And she got a lot of exposure.

No, this isn't going to work for everyone, but she lucked out by Cloudflare's absolutely awful way of handling this.

WARN act was almost certainly not triggered because they didn’t lay off that many people but if it was it wouldn’t matter the reasons the company gave.

The company handled it badly because they didn’t think it would ever blow back on them— that they have all the power — and while that’s mostly true it’s not entirely true.

Let's all try to remember to check her linkedin profile in a few months to see where she landed. I am genuinely curious how this works out.

Perfect response, very well stated. Kudos to their PR team!

Celebrity. Marry rich. Solid plan for a cute southern girl.

Everyone! She is a celeb

They almost certainly did let go enough employees that WARN Act would have been triggered. They let go 40 on the sales team alone. I'm not saying that's a lot, but it's getting awfully close to 50.

They would all have to be at the same site and be at least 1/3 of the jobs at that site to trigger WARN.

I can understand her frustration at having to endure the droning, corporate-speak of these two people she’s never met who are tasked with delivering the bad new, but at the end of the day, she’s a whining zoomer who didn’t make any sales.

Nah, I love this generation. They are calling out my generation and older on bullsheet practices that wreck peoples lives. Good for her and I hope she finds an employer that values her and her work ethic. Not everyone wants to be crotchety and old like you, OP, standing by the water cooler, eating your stale homemade sandwich with mayonnaise oozing out of the creases of your mouth, telling boring stories about what you did on the weekend and then watching the clock so you can take an unnecessary two hour commute home and then do it all over again the next day. It's a new day and I'm here for it!

The vitriol in your post is alarming. Go set up a telemed appointment with your therapist to talk about your feelings.

DP. You're a dinosaur and the younger gen scares you, don't they. You put up with this bs and helped create a world no one can survive well in.

I'm impressed that she held their feet to the fire. Cloudflare clearly is a company no one should aspire to work for.

This problem isn't unique to Cloudflare. They're just the ones that got caught on a recording.

The US is the only country in the world with At Will employment. And this is what happens - no reason required so no reason given. Meanwhile companies can hire to talent hoard, give investors the short term impression they are moving in the right direction (increasing hiring is a good sign, no?), or just plan poorly and employees pay the price. Never ceases to amaze me that people are so willing to just accept it.

I wonder if this line from the CEO's statement gives some clues: "And sometimes under performing employees don’t actually listen to the feedback they’ve gotten before we let them go."

I find it hard to believe that there wouldn't have been some attempt to help her improve before letting her go. But I don't know anything about tech sales -- maybe some employees just have what it takes and others don't, so feedback is pointless?

Anonymous wrote:Her job was to close sales, she didn't close sales. She seems to think the company should assess her by some other standard and continue to pay her to not close sales. People like this are exhausting.

But she tried real hard y’all!
And she did everything she was supposed to do.
It wasn’t her fault that the client didn’t sign on the dotted line at the last minute.
