A Coudflare employee recorded herself being laid off (remotely, apparently by a pair of consultants (not named Bob)) and it’s garnering a lot of views.
I can understand her frustration at having to endure the droning, corporate-speak of these two people she’s never met who are tasked with delivering the bad new, but at the end of the day, she’s a whining zoomer who didn’t make any sales. |
| It was the proper labor-compliant format. |
| Her job was to close sales, she didn't close sales. She seems to think the company should assess her by some other standard and continue to pay her to not close sales. People like this are exhausting. |
|
she has a point in that clouflare should’ve just said they are doing RIF’s because they over hired and the economic environment changed
I also usually clown people like this (non-technical) people in tech But this is not one of those times |
| Now I understand why management is trained to be extremely cold and formal during these. |
Does it say how long she was there and which product she was selling? Some have longer sales cycles so if this was a within 90 day termination it may not have been enough time. |
Yes, she started mid-August. She said she's not to blame because she had a 90 day ramp, and then it was Thanksgiving and then Christmas. Sometimes bad timing plus inexperience means you don't meet your targets. It doesn't mean the company has to keep paying you. |

Here's the CEO's response:

| Direct manager should have been involved in the meeting. Don't like how she handled it but she did have a fair point about asking for specific reason for being let go. HR will be vague and generalize details to avoid lawsuits later but this was pretty light on data to justify dismissal. I suspect she wasn't as well liked as others on team or was remote resource and those factors were at play for why she was cut. |

How did people get so inefficient and mentally midget-like.
The one second answer to her is “we don’t have enough money to pay you”. If you would like to work for free we can retain you. The end. Why the wasted resources paying for the two representatives that can’t efficiently communicate and the obvious pitiful training they have received in wasteful, deranged speaking methods. |
| She had zero sales. The company probably has data showing that someone with zero sales in six months won’t be productive going forward. Maybe the company could have handled the process better, but the fact that she was willing to record it shows they were right to get rid of her. |
| Was she laid off or fired? |
| Geez, why do people do this? If you google her name, you now get like 1000 articles written about this video. Who's going to hire her when they see all of that? |
| Zoomers are the whiniest excuse makers I’ve ever experienced. Nothing is ever their fault; it’s always something else: ADHD, climate change, anxiety, my cat died, etc. Take your pick. |
Celebrity. Marry rich. Solid plan for a cute southern girl. |
