Suck it up, quit the whining and deal with it. Be a good example for your kids.

I grew up fairly poor in a rural school system. We never missed school because HVAC wasn’t working. This is ridiculous.

Honestly, I am fine not going in, just don’t have virtual school.

Did you go to school without electricity too? That would work out so well in Taylor's windowless classrooms.

It's all the same people who screamed at the school board in 2020. They were about to call the news!

Don’t worry, APS doesn’t spend money on useful things like 4th high schools or HVAC, we get architect award winning high rises and slides.

Funny thing is that I work in one of those buildings and out HVAC is crap too, half the building is very hot, the other half very cold.

This is newsworthy. I don't understand. Are you one of those parents that think we should shut up and take it because public school infallible? The building situation is presumably out of their control (although no clear explanation has been given), but the shift to virtual for kids this young is unacceptable. Add back grade prep days and cancel early release days.

You didn't care a lick about HVAC systems in schools and their impact on kids and teachers health and well being and you still don't. You are only up in arms now because because you are oh so triggered by a couple days of virtual which you think is something to scream and go to the press about. I'm sure you don't give a hoot about the brown kids in S. Arlington in worse buildings than your snowflakes in Taylor. This is just so APE.

Oh and please bring this to the next Board meeting. I'll bring my popcorn.

+ 1. The couldn't even get it right in the new buildings. I don't understand why APS doesn't make the contractor come back to fix it?

They figured out it's an electrical issue today!

I bet APE cut the power lines! (That's the gist of what I got from today's insane posts)

haha- I'm just catching up- there was some insanity posted today for sure. Come on people APE did not oppose hvac maintenance or advocate for the VLP. APE opposed smart restart's insanity claiming that we needed some sort of uber charged air exchanging system before we could go back to school. I don't recall ape having a position on the vlp really- but I think it was more along the lines of we need to be back fully in person.

This is so APE. They got called out so they try to blame another group?

Umm, Smart Restart advocated for HVAC upgrades to match ASHRAE recommendations and it was never conditioned on opening schools - that's ridiculous and just another false APE narrative. But APE told APS back then that any HVAC upgrades were not needed and schools were just fine as is. Clearly that is not the case.

Perhaps if APS had listened to Smart Restart instead your kids would be in school and not home on screens today.

And yes, I definitely remember a lot of the APEs pushing for our virtual kids to be off in a separate program, not part of our home schools. That stung then because our kids were being pushed out of their communities, and it backfired in the awful VLP experience. I found it supremely ironic that APE then piled on and criticized APS for the VLP failure. They never cared about those kids at all and still don't.

These parents only care because school was canceled and "how many parents can deal with that?"

They only care about the impact on themselves. No cares for the teachers or kids who have to sit in these buildings for 6 hours every day.

But if their free babysitting is impacted, then oh mama!

Of course they did, APE's PR team is very good. Kids on virtual is an EMERGENCY for these people.

Did this happen to a S Arlington school and not make the news? Also, is your stance that virtual is the same as in person?

You are making my point here. You only care about the HVAC because your kids are in VIRTUAL.
