Teen possibly abducted from party in CA

It's probable that there were dozens of other girls at the same party doing the same thing who went home safely. A lot of us can say "There but for the grace of God go I" or "That could so easily have been my daughter." So, lets save the victim blaming.

Why do “loving” parents allow this?

New poster here. Are you from another planet? This is what teenagers do! I had conservative strict parents and somehow I made it to so many parties like this where kids were drinking, dancing, doing what teens do. I am so confused by the suggestion that her parents are these negligent freaks. Teens party. It’s kind of a universal, normal thing. She wasn’t a 13-year-old. She is two years away from living fully independently. In many countries around the world, kids at 16 are out working jobs, earning money, close to full independence.

She is a target for being young, blond, pretty. Parents did not figure that out?

This. The girl is on a one way trip to the balkans or Middle East.

White teens have a propensity for this more than teens of other races.

Obviously, it wasn't safe.

The road between the campground and Truckee is a relatively flat, very straight major highway. I have driven it many times and even at night it is a very safe road. There certainly are twisty, steep mountain roads in the area but she would have to have driven in the opposite direction of town and gotten off the main highway to access them.

You might be thinking of the movie Taken (2008), starring Liam Neeson. Not real life.

If that’s what you do, be ready for the consequences. This is exactly when girls get violated, “doing what kids do”. It’s evil to allow this.

Neither is crossing the street! More kids died last year - older kids- crossing the street than kids were abducted from parties. Do you realize that? Should parents not let kids cross the street?

It's not equivalent; but if you think so, then go ahead and allow your 16 year old son or daughter to experience the kind of party this young woman attended.

Evil? It wasn’t an animal sacrifice or KKK rally, it was teens gathering in a field. You know, humans congregating. 16-year-old girls need to know that they are at risk of being violated, and the only way they learn to protect themselves is by being around other people, learning how to say no to certain situations, learning to set boundaries, and not doing dangerous things like drugs. Maybe this girl did not know these things, but letting someone go to a party is how kids learn to navigate the world. You simply can’t learn how to be an independent and strong adult if you are not in situations that challenge you.

This seems the most likely scenario, unfortunately, given that her car is still missing. She was drunk and made a wrong turn and then crashed. Tragic.
