It's probable that there were dozens of other girls at the same party doing the same thing who went home safely. A lot of us can say "There but for the grace of God go I" or "That could so easily have been my daughter." So, lets save the victim blaming.

Why do “loving” parents allow this?

New poster here. Are you from another planet? This is what teenagers do! I had conservative strict parents and somehow I made it to so many parties like this where kids were drinking, dancing, doing what teens do. I am so confused by the suggestion that her parents are these negligent freaks. Teens party. It’s kind of a universal, normal thing. She wasn’t a 13-year-old. She is two years away from living fully independently. In many countries around the world, kids at 16 are out working jobs, earning money, close to full independence.

If that’s what you do, be ready for the consequences. This is exactly when girls get violated, “doing what kids do”. It’s evil to allow this.

Evil? It wasn’t an animal sacrifice or KKK rally, it was teens gathering in a field. You know, humans congregating. 16-year-old girls need to know that they are at risk of being violated, and the only way they learn to protect themselves is by being around other people, learning how to say no to certain situations, learning to set boundaries, and not doing dangerous things like drugs. Maybe this girl did not know these things, but letting someone go to a party is how kids learn to navigate the world. You simply can’t learn how to be an independent and strong adult if you are not in situations that challenge you.

Well, it seems she's exoeriencing a challenging situation and learning how to navigate the world. Personally, i think it is tragic.

Where are the parents?

Probably asleep unaware their teen snuck out or thinking they were somewhere else because their kid lied. Have you parented a teen? Stop.

You stop. You're just making things up. The mom knew she was at the party and was in fact texting with her daughter shortly before she vanished from the party. She told her mom she was coming home soon and when mom woke up she realized she never did.

When mom woke up? I couldn't have gone to sleep.

The road between the campground and Truckee is a relatively flat, very straight major highway. I have driven it many times and even at night it is a very safe road. There certainly are twisty, steep mountain roads in the area but she would have to have driven in the opposite direction of town and gotten off the main highway to access them.

If you're drunk. . .

This seems the most likely scenario, unfortunately, given that her car is still missing. She was drunk and made a wrong turn and then crashed. Tragic.

Odd her phone was turned off though….

Reminded of the girl who was killed at UVA walking home alone. If you can do anything, teach your kids BUDDY SYSTEM.

The only reason we are hearing about it. She's a pretty, blonde woman. I hope she's found safe and alive.

I don't know how this case of one missing white girl made national news but here we go again. Meanwhile, Latino, Native American, and Black children have a higher abduction rate. The bias is real and sickening.

JFC, there's a teenager missing and y'all want to rage on about racism and whether or not sex trafficking is real.

Can always depend on DCUM to know what to focus on.

Your post is sickening as well, given that it shows up in a thread about a missing person. What’s wrong with you? You want to tell this girl’s parents that you are disgusted by the fact that people care about her disappearance? If you have one iota of decency you’d realize that your point belongs in a thread about politics or ideally, in a different “off-topic” one about missing BIPOC people you are concerned about. But you never do post about those missing kids, do you?

No, you don't care about her disappearance. You're just gossiping and speculating about what happened to her. It's just fodder for DCUM.

Maybe her phone died instead of being turned off.

DP. Tell that to her family, who created the website and us desire are to get the word out. I cannot hear these posts accusing people if gossiping or bring ghouls. It is absolutely insufferable.

You don’t have a 14 yo, I am guessing. Many of them are in a hurry to grow up. It’s a common source of tension with parents.

Ah DCUM--can't discuss the boy who died trying to steal a boat, but you can have pages and pages of speculation and victim-blaming about a girl who was clearly abducted.
