And...Wootton, Tilden, and Cedar Grove will now need new principals too, as their current principals were just promoted.

Everyone I've talked to at Highland View has liked her but we've only been there one year and I haven't had to deal with her directly beyond saying good morning as we walk into school. |

Sorry I should clarify that I'm a DP. I do remember that during her period of running the school we had fewer and shorter phone messages, but that's a pretty minor thing. |

All three principal positions were posted this morning (Cedar Grove ES, Tilden MS, and Wootton HS), so maybe they will be able to hire people for the permanent jobs. |

Yes. VERY hard for external candidates to get positions as Principal or higher because the system is so complicated to learn and MCPS invests a lot in training people in their professional workforce who they’ve tagged as future leaders (we can debate how well it does and doesn’t work). I only know of one HS principal who recently got an appointment that was external, and even they worked in MCPS for a while - in fact, as an interim - until they left. |

They have hired a few directors (supervisors of principals) from outside of MCPS recently, and one of them was just promoted to associate superintendent. The new chief of staff and assistant chief of communications are also from outside MCPS. |
