Wow, that is a lot

I've heard rumors about another middle school that's yet to be announced.

You can contact her director, Nicole Sosik, or the associate superintendent, James Koutsos. But you'll need to supply specific examples of problems and how you tried to address them locally, how the principal responded, etc.

Of course the principal may not get "removed" so much as "moved" as happened in our own ES a couple years back

If it's a high-income school with high scores, it's unlikely they'll move them because they can do less damage at a school with lots of resources than at one that's high needs. The exception is if they have an affair with a subordinate. Then they get moved regardless. MCPS is infamous for moving ethically challenged principals and other admins to different positions in the county, even if that blocks more deserving leaders from getting a slot somewhere.

Watkins Mill HS might be opening up this cycle.

Rule 1: document, document, document.

I second this. The parents at The Grove have documented like crazy. She is not moving anywhere. Triple A is there to stay. I miss teaching at The Grove. We had so many neat traditions and the garden and pond was amazing. They had the best Fall Festival in town. I was so happy to be there.

Little Bennett ES. I absolutely adore Dr. Miller. He opened the school and it is run with precision, care and love. He knows every single family, every name of current and former students, greets families in the kiss and ride, takes covid seriously and is amazing to work for. I am on pins and needles for an announcement of replacement. I pray it is their AP, whom I love as well.

Anybody know why Dr. Art Williams won't be at Springbrook anymore?

Still won't work...no one has had luck getting rid of Kemp Mills principal despite documentation and union involvement.

There's a note on the website from April saying he was taking extended leave for a health-related matter.

Anonymous wrote:Anyone know what happens if you know in advance a principal is retiring? Ours at Bradley hills is retiring (after almost a decade) after next school year. Would they have someone in to shadow her and then serve as replacement? We currently have no AP so will someone take that job this year and then get bumped up?

At Wyngate, I think they brought in a principal intern to shadow her and then promoted him up to principal when she retired. He was great but sadly we lost him to central office after only a few years—I think the pandemic burned him out. Wyngate has a pretty good parent community so I don’t think we drove him away!

It is insanely hard and he won't get removed. The ONLY time I have heard of a principal leaving after an effort to get them removed involved one who came from another school system, and so was in a probationary year. Staff *and* parents had major concerns and voiced them to higher ups in many different ways. After numerous meetings and all kinds of efforts through the course of the school year, the individual did not "pass" the probation and was given the choice of another probationary year, or resignation. They resigned. So in the end, they actually weren't removed, just chose to leave the school system. And a quick google search reveals this person is principal in another state, so apparently a poor review did not harm their career.

The BOE agenda for tomorrow has 29 minutes allocated for the HR section, so looks like there'll be a large number of appointments announced.
