Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
| Douglas Nelson was just appointed as principal of Wootton (was assistant principal at BCC, I believe). |
And Stephanie Valentine as principal of Springbrook. |
|
Today's principal appointments:
Douglas Nelson - Wootton High School Stephanie Valentine - Springbrook High School Sapna Hopkins - Tilden Middle School Lisa Shorts - Eastern Middle School Pedro Cedeno - Daly Elementary School Nora Collins - Wheaton Woods Elementary School Jennifer Taylor-Cox - Forest Knolls Elementary School Maureen Turner - Luxmanor Elementary School Christopher Wynne- Cedar Grove Elementary School Hanna Yim - Highland View Elementary School Abby Brandt - Stephen Knolls School |
| And, there are two more principal vacancies now, at Martin Luther King MS and Ashburton ES, since their principals were just appointed to new positions. |
Chris Wynne from MLK was appointed as principal at Cedar Grove, and Greg Mullenholz from Ashburton was appointed as a director of school support and well-being. |
...where she has already been serving as the acting principal |
| We're at Highland View, anyone here have experience with Hanna Yim? |
Surprised that Douglas Nelson got Wootton and jumped from AP to Principal, albeit in a part of the district with a similar demographic. Was he ever a Principal Intern? |
|
So, looks like the list of schools needing principals is now:
Ashburton Burning Tree Somerset MLK |
I'm not sure, but he's been an AP for a good while. Before he was at BCC he was an AP at SSIMS, and before that he was the magnet coordinator at Clemente. |
Makes me feel better as a Wootton parent and community member, thanks for the context. |
| Anne Darderian is consulting principal, a position that they must have created very, very recently, as there was only one open and it was filled by the Wootton principal. Anyone have context for that? |
I had a child at SSIMS when he was there and he seemed to be a good AP at the time. |
Are you saying that the position of consulting principal is new? Because, just as there are consulting teachers there are consulting principals. I wonder more about some of the names of the positions in CO. They sound like they were created for friends and not necessary. There is a brand ambassador and office of school well being among others. |
| Yes they definitely bypassed the appointment process for some of those positions. Regarding the consulting principal position, it's not new, but the position that was available had been filled. I don't think they advertised that there was another one, nor were there transparent plans to have a second one. |
