I’m so unhappy with my baby in daycare.

I somewhat agree. I hired a nanny for my preverbal infants only because I work from home.

That makes no sense to me! Infancy is the absolute best time to have one-one care. Do you paranoid nuts think all nannies are going to abuse your babies? Are you hiring out of prisons?!

Yeah really. Cynical as hell! My nanny was so much more patient than I ever was as a mom...

+1. It’s crazy. And aren’t all infants preverbal ?

Yeah really. Cynical as hell! My nanny was so much more patient than I ever was as a mom...

+2. Some women have such horrible beliefs about other women. Our nanny has 15 years of experience and was a teacher. In three years she has never even gotten frustrated with my kids. And she loves them.

+3. It’s such a slam on childcare workers and a female profession. And stunningly paranoid.

Nanny here and thank you. I would give my life to my charges in a heartbeat. So would any of the nannies I know. A couple years ago I watched in horror as a nanny spotted an unleashed dog running for her toddler change and, in an instant, scooped up her charge and held him high while the dog started mauling her and ripping her leg. The nanny never even lowered her charge until the paramedics arrived. And then insisted the parents were called before she and her charge went to the hospital.

It’s horrible to hear from people like PP who think nannies, who choose this profession, would ever hurt their beloved changes.

So sad that so many women have to go back to work and disguise it as being a feminist when in reality they know they wish they could stay home but they married a loser.

I'm amazed by how many women here are stuck in 1950!!!!! You sound like the loser here. Go back to quilting, grandma.

Oh I love these threads.

Rich women telling the rest of us that we have RUINED our children and that daycare is tantamount to ABUSING our poor little snowflakes.

Daycare is just fine, OP. It could just be that THIS PARTICULAR DAYCARE is not a good fit. If you're uncomfortable with it, find a different one. I would also recommend looking at in home daycares. We loved ours.

You know the exact same thing could be said about caregivers at daycare, right? Why don't you trust professionals who have been caring for multiple babies for over 15 years??

Hypocrite.

Because daycare workers have multiple babies to care for at one time, dear, while a nanny has just your baby. I still have respect for daycare workers but would rather my baby be a caregivers sole focus.

Did I seriously need to explain that to you?

Just for the record, we are not rich. We chose to use saving to pay our nanny and we were still renting. I don’t doubt that daycare was fine but it just wasn’t what We wanted. Absolutely no regrets.

Especially because they are happy to hand off care to an unsupervised nanny. It’s nuts.

Figure out what works best for your family. Don't worry about what anyone else feels is best.

I am the PP who said I would not hire a nanny for a preverbal infant. My opinion is based on the time I spent as a SAHM (and spent time at parks with the nannies) and working in the childcare field myself.

I would definitely hire a nanny for older kids. Just not infants and toddlers.
