| I reached out to our AART teacher. The scores are not in yet and will not be by mid-december when the package is due. OP is a troll. |
A kid in my child’s class has been telling the classmates that he’s the smartest person in the class after the CogAT scores were out. |
Did you call Island Creek AART teacher? |
I don't know if I believe the OP or others who claimed they (the teachers or schools) have the scores already, but do you truly think your AART would tell you if they did? Would you accept that they have them and aren't sharing them with you? Or would you expect to find out your child's scores? The AART knows there is no good path forward to saying "yes we have them" so whether or not they have them, they're going to say they don't until they're ready to send them out. Why does the packet have to be due mid December? Are they really starting to review these over Christmas break? How can they even start reviewing them if they truly don't have the scores back? Like PPs said they seem to play this weird game of giving the scores after the deadline, which is ridiculous. |
Makes sense! I believe schools have the scores but they will hold on to it. The mid Dec deadline also doesn’t make sense but may be the schools want to know by mid Dec how many total applicants are there and based on that they want to skew GBRS so that some kids are weed out, inspite of scores above the 132 cutoff. There is some politics in play. |
| Our school said they will release it when they have it. |
| The schools have the scores. They are done on the computer, and they can see the results almost immediately. |
| I believe OP, at least until others from their elementary say they didn’t get them. A troll wouldn’t name the elementary school. Weird that they are the only elementary school to release though. |
| I believe OP too. NNAT was in mid April this year on the computer and scores were posted on SIS the first week of May. If test is on computer, scores are released in few days. |
Thank you! I don’t know either why you guys haven’t seen the scores yet! We are going to have a second AAP session this upcoming Wednesday (11/17) |
Could you please tell what the second AAP session means? Thanks! |
It’s a meeting session with AART teacher to talk about application process for AAP level IV. |
|
OP here. I went to a second AAP meeting this morning and learned that of all the second grade classes, only my dd class received CogAT scores which might have been sent out unintentionally.
This info of this meeting changed a bit from the first one that happened in September. In September, AART told us that the in pool score is 132. This morning she said it will vary for schools depending on CogAT school norm and she doesn’t know what it’s going to be yet. She just told us to submit a referral regardless of whether we have received scores. The scores for our school probably will be mailed during Thanksgiving break. The AART also said that they are just using the nonverbal part of the CoGAT for kids that don’t have an NNAT. So at least at our school they’re not requiring kids who missed the NNAT to take it. |
Our school has two AAP meetings. The first is a general AAP meeting and discussed Level II, III and IV services. Most of the focus is on Level II and III which is what we had at our school, until this year. The second meetings was focused on Level IV and the application process. It addressed more specific questions about applying, what the school did, what the packets looked like, and other issues. It was 100% devoted to Level IV. |
| FCPS website says the screening pool will be announced early December so I assume we will get scores then. |
