| Herndon in FCPS - no cogat score here |
| Yeah, op is a troll. |
Believe whatever you want, I even mentioned the school name…
|
It's a little weird that OP is the only parent from Island Creek on DCUM. There's no other confirmation from Island Creek parents. |
| Let’s hope to get the scores before thanksgiving. Our school will announce the pool by first week of December, so scores have to be out in November |
Our assistant principal told parents to parent refer without the score in mind. This was in mid-October, but they said they did not anticipate scores being releases until mid-December or just before the winter break. So... If other parents are receiving it at other schools, I would love to know if our school is holding them back unnecessarily (not sure they are, but clearly one school has released them). Keep posting if you receive them. Thanks. |
| Schools are holding them back. They have the scores but are not releasing them yet. |
That's so odd. I don't understand the reasoning behind this? |
Parents go nuts over these scores. They want to avoid too many questions and complaints before the AAP packets are turned in. |
Sounds crazy but schools have been dealing with AAP madness for years. They know how to control the situation. My child she is they have the scores but won’t release them until it’s pretty close to the application deadline. |
| That seems so backwards in thinking. You potentially have parents preparing referrals that may not if they knew the score, esp since many kids missed the NNAT last year. Presumably, it could make the task easier -- your kid in either in pool or not. |
|
This will be my first experience applying for AAP level IV. I looked at the parent questionnaire and will need to spend time thinking about the answers to those questions. Also collecting work samples and fitting into 8.5X11 in pages, all this seems like added work for a parent. I wish they completely removed samples from home.
I am not going to wait anymore for scores. I’ll begin the tedious process of application next week. Want to be free by thanksgiving. |
You can fill out the one form to request screening. You don't have to do the questionnaire or the work samples. You can make it as much or as little work as you feel is needed. It is added work and that is one reason the Auditors suggested removing parent referrals as an option. There is a massive discrepancy in who chooses to refer and who does not. part of that is due to lack of knowledge of the program and the referral process requiring some extra work that not every parent is capable of completing. As such, the referral program is over used by higher income families and barely used by lower income families. |
| Everything is a big secret for FCPS including SOL scores. |
It's been a weird couple years and I'm not sure teachers fully know the kids. Sometimes parents see things that teachers don't. That's probably why they tell everyone to submit. |
