Haven't read it, but just want to say that "smart" doesn't always mean sensible. He's giving his opinion. Everyone has one.

He can be over it as he can afford the best health care in the world.

Yup.

He and all the DC politicians don’t have to worry because they’ll get all the treatments. No questions asked. No need to call around and find out where they can be found and if they’re eligible. They’ll have the best drugs without even having to worry about it.

We go to Walter Reed and it takes weeks to months to get appointments right now. I asked for help with covid and was told to go to the ER or an outside urgent care (which they may or may not pay for). They have separate VIP wings and all the good doctors get promoted to those positions. Many of the doctors are interns and residents or even unlicensed doctors and you don't get to meet with the supervising doctor so who knows if all your information gets passed when the decision is made. For speciality clinics I'm waiting at least two months for testing/appointments. Even a mammogram is a few months out.

So Tricare only covers doctors at Walter Reed?

Not gonna lie, we when better off when Trump was president and his opponents were yelling "science, science, science!" Now, no one wants to be responsible for the already F'd up economy but simply giving some basic protocol to minimize spread. We are in "fend for yourself" mode.

They probably should mandate masks again. I did it very happily when it was mandated but when I don’t have to, I like can’t (won’t) make myself. It feels like a burden when it isn’t mandated! I’m sure I’m not alone in that. I will wear it everywhere with perfect adherence … if I have to. But if I don’t have to, I’m not individually gonna make myself. Because masks do kinda suck all day long.

Masks aren't effective against the variants.
Maybe a smidge better then doing nothing.

Mask mandates are not effective in preventing viral spread. On an individual basis, masks can prevent infection. No one's wearing a mask 24-7, which is why the mandates won't work. People are still going to socialize, eat in the company of others, have parties, go to weddings, take naps at daycare, meet randos for sex, etc. You can't shut down socializing permanently and yes, having faces exposed is actually important for socializing.

That's the fault of the mask (non-)wearers, not the masks themselves.

Yes, or a few other local bases if you are on prime. You can get referred out and sometimes they do it and sometimes not. Normally for specialists they do if you are not active duty but I was just denied being referred out for two specialists. They will not pay if you don’t have a referral.

I’d rather see a mask and not get Covid.

Where is the evidence of this or you tell yourself this nonsense to justify your behavior.

This. High filtration masks work and are now widely available. Wannabe influences blustering about freedumb can take their politics elsewhere.

You see that little line that's trending upwards? Will probably trend upwards until school starts and then surge some.[/quote

Didn’t the opposite happen early last fall? People ended summer travel and the cases went down?

Where would we take ourselves? We (the people who have sex without masks) are the majority.

Also, yeah, people don't want to wear masks. The PP said "mask mandates", not masks. Shaming people on the internet (or anywhere) isn't going to work for your cause, either.

It shouldn't need to be mandated. Be a decent person and wear one.

NP but it’s funny you claim a decent person would wear a mask. I’ve never had Covid therefore I’ve never spread Covid to someone else. Doesn’t that make me decent? Have you had Covid and given it to someone else? If so I’d say by your measure you’re less decent than I am.

DP here. Haven’t you heard about asymptomatic spread? That’s why masks are recommended. You really have no way of knowing if who you’ve infected. Please educate yourself please before you spout off to others.
