Not a single poster has claimed that Jews suffered more, although that of course could be debated. Certainly the Holocaust, in which Jews were deemed sub-human and gassed to death by the millions, is horrendous beyond words.

No, the point being made about Jews is in response to liberals who keep saying that the only reason that blacks have been less successful, collectively, is due to prejudice and bigotry. Jews, despite millennia of prejudice, have succeeded. Even less than one generation after their families were murdered for being Jewish, they went from poor immigrant to middle-class college graduate or successful business owner. Thus, the point is that you can't claim that prejudice alone explains lack of success. Jews have revealed that, and that's why there's so much resentment toward them: they dispel the liberal myth that "it's always someone else's fault."

What are all of the challenges that black people have faced and do face today?

Please, enough of this
Jews were not brought to America as slaves
There is no need for anyone to feel pity for a privileged small ethnic minority
There are people suffering today in America

And there's that resentment! How DARE these Jews suffer from the Holocaust, watch their close family murders die, and then a generation later have sent their kids to college - and a generation after that, they're lawyers and doctors?! Why can't they just be unsuccessful so we can show how bigotry keeps people down?

And no, Jews were not brought to America as slaves. Half of them were killed off completely. You should respect that Jews overcame that history (RECENT history) and proved that the most extreme form of prejudice cannot hold people down.

You’re obviously ignorant of history. Jews were being persecuted far before any black was brought to America. I don’t think anybody except for people like you are looking for pity. Why don’t you look at the Jews as shining examples to be emulated?

Yes, we’ve heard about the persecution of Jewish people several times now. Thanks.

I'm not going to answer your question, because you should know. I went to a lecture with Lonnie Bunch and Steve Pelley from 60 minutes. Scott talked about how he had recently learned about his home state of Texas and it's slave history. It was the only "nation" that actually had slavery written into its constitution. Scott didn't know that so he searched for his middle school history text book. He actually found a copy at an obscure bookstore in Detroit. Turns out, there was no slavery section AT ALL.

How would I expect you to answer this question or have any informed opinion on this subject when I know that you don't actually know your history. If you did, you wouldn't need to answer this question. I don't mean the history you learned on television, I mean the real stuff.

Yes, that's the point! These liberals are angry that Jews, despite their horrific persecution, manage to succeed in spite of that.

And now we have some liberal claiming that Jews want to be pitied when they're a privileged minority. Why not ask instead WHY such a persecuted people have become a "privileged" minority - and follow their lead? Because it doesn't fit the liberal myth that bigotry is entirely to blame for failure. The Jews prove it isn't true! And that is why leftist posters actually resent them. They would prefer that the Jews were less educated than average, with lower salaries, and lower networks - like blacks - simply to prove that growing up under prejudice is the reason for failure.

The Jewish path isn't that hard to emulate. It's what the children of poor immigrants did while their cousins overseas were being slaughtered for being Jewish:

1) Give priority to your studies so that you can score excellent grades and get admitted to a low-tuition college and/or win scholarships.

2) Get an after-school job while in college if necessary, working every night to 10 pm, and then come home and study until 2 a.m., to get money for college expenses and help pitch in for the food.

3) Do not have babies until after you are married and have completed college.

They should just allow entrance to college based on percent of the population. The population is 49% white so 49% of students at all universities are white. 5% is Asian so 5% of the student body gets to be Asian.

of course it's relevant to the discussion. And Jews are only 2% of the population, so Jews should be limited to 2% of the student body, despite individual success stories? That's a quota, and it's racist.

Everybody gets in based on their own academic record, with some allowances made for poor people. Race should be irrelevant.

It's the blacks who are playing the victim. Stop blaming everything thing failure on prejudice. Jews have proven to you that you can rise above the worst of it by making the right choices.

"Despite 2000 years of prejudice" -- as compared to what? If you want to make the comparison, make it. Provide some facts on the other side.

I didn't post that. I don't resent Jewish people at all. It didn't sound like PP resented Jewish people either.
