Funny how most Americans think slavery is ok in China today.
I do not think it is ok there or anywhere else I am sick of the posters claiming that Jews suffered more therefore they are right
Not a single poster has claimed that Jews suffered more, although that of course could be debated. Certainly the Holocaust, in which Jews were deemed sub-human and gassed to death by the millions, is horrendous beyond words. No, the point being made about Jews is in response to liberals who keep saying that the only reason that blacks have been less successful, collectively, is due to prejudice and bigotry. Jews, despite millennia of prejudice, have succeeded. Even less than one generation after their families were murdered for being Jewish, they went from poor immigrant to middle-class college graduate or successful business owner. Thus, the point is that you can't claim that prejudice alone explains lack of success. Jews have revealed that, and that's why there's so much resentment toward them: they dispel the liberal myth that "it's always someone else's fault."
What are all of the challenges that black people have faced and do face today?
Please, enough of this Jews were not brought to America as slaves There is no need for anyone to feel pity for a privileged small ethnic minority There are people suffering today in America
You’re obviously ignorant of history. Jews were being persecuted far before any black was brought to America. I don’t think anybody except for people like you are looking for pity. Why don’t you look at the Jews as shining examples to be emulated?
The Jewish path isn't that hard to emulate. It's what the children of poor immigrants did while their cousins overseas were being slaughtered for being Jewish: 1) Give priority to your studies so that you can score excellent grades and get admitted to a low-tuition college and/or win scholarships. 2) Get an after-school job while in college if necessary, working every night to 10 pm, and then come home and study until 2 a.m., to get money for college expenses and help pitch in for the food. 3) Do not have babies until after you are married and have completed college.
Please stop bringing up this irrelevant comparison. Unless you can explain the full history and experience of black Americans and demonstrate how the history and experience of Jewish Americans is relevant.
of course it's relevant to the discussion. LIberals on this thread keep saying that black Americans are less successful than white Americans solely because of prejudice, and that's why they deserve to be advantaged when it comes to college admissions, The fact that Jews have succeeded above both blacks and whites, despite 2000 years of prejudice, proves that entire premise is wrong! Were you the angry liberal who said Jews want to be pitied even though they're so privileged? Stop trying to hide the fact that Jews succeeded due to their own personal choices, despite horrible bigotry. EMULATE them.....don't resent them. (And I wasn't the poster upthread who said to emulate the Jews, but that poster was correct. Stop blaming prejudice for everything.)
"Despite 2000 years of prejudice" -- as compared to what? If you want to make the comparison, make it. Provide some facts on the other side. I didn't post that. I don't resent Jewish people at all. It didn't sound like PP resented Jewish people either.
