When are Herndon Middle and Herndon High going to get a break?!??

If I find the police stalking out other high schools and saying there is active MS-13 activity I will post that too.

This thread is about Herndon and I wanted to investigate the claims made several pages back Mara Salvatrucha operates there.

Edit: "staking out"

On a recent afternoon, WAMU was invited to accompany undercover local officers and ICE agents as they staked out Herndon High School. They were looking for a specific youth who they say is an MS-13 gang member.

Herndon Police Sergeant Claudio Saa says that the changes in requirements for gang membership have led to a rise in serious crimes in Northern Virginia.

“He’s known to frequent this location, this school, this parking lot,” said Lt. Evan Weeks of the Fairfax County Police Department. “The last intelligence we got is that he’s been here trying to cause trouble with a rival gang member and his gang.”

This is from 2017.

So I guess "MS-13 is in Herndon High School" is more than a rumor.

Don't be naive. MS-13 is throughout FCPS. Maybe not in every school, but probably in most.

Easy to say and might be true. Post your evidence if you have any.

Herndon and McLean need a School Board representative who will stand up to the Langley bullies behind One Great Falls/Voices of Fairfax.

Elaine Tholen is the only candidate who possibly might do that. Mobasheri and Karloutsos have made clear that they will approach every decision from the perspective of “what is best for Langley.” Langley has already been on the receiving end of too many favors, whether it’s boundaries crafted over the years to include only wealthy areas, exclusion from the South Lakes boundary study in 2008, or a recent addition that stands to lead to the unnecessary expansion of the school’s catchment area even though the growth has been in other pyramids.

Elaine Tholen has few specific promises besides keeping all the neighborhoods in Langley high school.

If you want her to go against Langley, she's already told you she won't.

None of them will say any kids should move out of Langley as long as it’s 400+ kids below capacity.

Don't confuse Herndon's issues with McLean's concerns.

Yes. From what I've read, she did this after she realized that she might lose. Pure politics. Just like Janie Strauss. NO diffference. Janie talked a good SJW game--but look where her own experience was Look where her own kids went to school.

Tholen includes on her priorities page that she will address the concerns of McLean and Langley.

Not a word about Herndon High school.

While not mentioning Herndon by name, Tholen’s priorities around community involvement, learning environments, and career readiness are more aligned with the concerns of many Herndon families than her opponents.

If you were looking for her to say adjustments of the Langley/Herndon boundaries should be a priority, you will come up empty-handed.

She friends with our current School Board.

I looked at her site and like her emphasis on kids needing outside time and her concern for the environment. Two thumbs up for supporting sound programs and access to them for all students.

It's not her fault that HMS/HHS parents haven't brought her specific concerns (that she can actually address. I don't know what emails and calls she has received).

No one can run on "get these Langley bullies to take some poor kids and save Herndon" if they have any desire to win.

Half are retiring. I think McLaughlin is safe for sure.

McLean's current issue is OVERCROWDING.

The MCA passed a resolution asking FCPS to adjust the McLean/Langley boundaries.

McSpaces, a group focused on overcrowding, wants the same.

McSpaces encouraged McLean parents to show up to the July work session. Why anyone thinks only Great Falls is concerned about boundaries and would show up to hear about them is beyond me.

McLean wants the overcrowding problem SOLVED and is sick of waiting for the school board to finish playing around when there is a nearby high school with space.

Herndon's desire to export FARMs has nothing to do with any of it.

So Herndon High school is the ONLY high school that she doesn't need to explicitly say she will advocate for?

True, I don't think that any candidate will do anything for Herndon. Nevermind that just 33% of 7th graders passed the math SOL, some ES' are target schools, or that it's difficult to get parents to support the PTA or volunteer for field trips. Hey, at least Tholen came to visit.
