Children of divorce - how to decide where they live after 18?

Anonymous
What happens when the kids turn 18, they are legal adults, and custody no longer dictates living arrangements?

If you are/were divorced, how was this decision made?

Anonymous
They decide unless they are incapable, then you get a court order.

Many are at college.

You consider your child’s best interests,
and your ex hopefully does the same.

They are adults at that point, free to chose who they live with provided both parents offer.

Hoping they live at college or on their own/roommates, with a job.

Um hopefully they go to college and move into dorms. Or get a job and their own apartment. Assuming they are out of high school.

What happens if they want to live at home and go to school?

What happens during the summer?

So you don't want them living with you past 18?

During the summer, they either get a full time job, or do summer courses.

I guess they can talk to each parent and see if either is willing to let them do that.

It stayed the same as when they were in high school - they had rooms in both homes.
