“The 2008 invasion of Georgia, which dealt a setback to the small former Soviet republic but revealed incompetence and weakness on Russia’s part, led to plans to reequip and reform Putin’s armed forces. Those efforts have manifestly failed. This says a good deal about the lack of idealism, probity, and sense of duty within his regime. How this can change at such a late and crucial stage in the Ukraine invasion is very hard to see.”

Such claims are exclusively aimed for domestic consumption, folks. Putin does not expect anyone else to buy them. He controls (or thinks he does) the Russian media. All the Russian people are supposed to see are these claims on TV, Putin standing up to the West, liberating lands, etc… |
Certain Putin-loving right wingers here believe them. |
Seeing a lot of Africans on social media buying into the "standing up to the West" garbage as if Putin is some kind of savior saint. It's sickening. |
From where? |
Well why is Israel on the Russians side in this war? Do they believe the Ukraine is full of nazis? |
Well there is that fringe Azov group in the Ukraine National Guard. They are Nazis. But we probably have more in our armed forces. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/sep/10/azov-far-right-fighters-ukraine-neo-nazis |
Israel is NOT on Russia's side. For example, it was one of the countries that voted for the UN resolution today. It is not against Russia, at least not as strongly as EU, US etc but that has nothing to do with worries about Nazis and everything with geopolitical issues Israel views as important to itself - for example it coordinates with Russia in Syria, targeting Iran-backed forces. Its relative forbearance of Russia has everything to do with Israel's concerns about Iran and needing Russia not to be against its actions in the Middle East and nothing to do with nazis or lack thereof in Ukraine (or Russia.( |
You are an inane, simple, bafflingly partisan idiot. |
Because Israel exists to save itself, oh naive one, not anybody else. And they don't care about sovereign anything - they're pushing out Palestinians from their own lands as we speak, in defiance of international law, (while being bankrolled by the USA - and then people wonder why the Middle East hates us). They don't care how evil Putin is. They don't want to destabilize the fragile status quo in their neck of the woods. |
From what I understand, Israel had the largest immigration wave of Ukrainian Jews who left USSR in the 80s and 90s. Loads of Jewish Ukrainians there as a result of this. They may have their own opinions given that some of them survived WW2 in Ukraine. Google Bandera, Babi Yar, etc. Not saying this is the case, as it's likely a lot more complicated and grounded on geo-politics and economic situation. |
Yeah, I responded below. This is one of the factors, like I said, it's complicated with Israel. I mentioned also that Israel literally is a home of majority of Ukrainian Jews of which not many are left in Ukraine.. Zelenskiy might actually be a unicorn.. most of them are gone, Israel accepted everyone regardless, USA was harder to get into, but many went there, some went to Canada and Australia, there was real legitimate Jewish exodus from Ukraine because it did have one of the largest Jewish populations. Brighton Beach is like mini Odessa |
I don't think Israel is a fan of either Russia or Ukraine, they may not actually give a shit. |
This was a very interesting article. An American marine fighting with the Ukraine’s in Kyiv.
