Military observations on Ukraine invasion

Okay

More than 50,000 Javelin missiles and 12,000 CLUs are currently in service with the US armed forces and 19 allied nations. Javelin is expected to be operational with the US until 2050.

Does anyone know enough to comment on this? Could they really only have one ship with long range missiles on it?

You’re not familiar with the immense power and technology of the Russian Navy?

Ouch.

I’m honestly surprised to hear that Russia is so impotent.

Russia threatened Finland with invasion over their consideration of NATO membership.

Finland’s defense chief replied that the Russians are welcome to join the 200,000 Russian soldiers already buried on Finish battlefields from the past 2 wars Russia waged on Finland.

Is Russia really at the forefront of military technology?

I am concerned that we're at a turning point, where the Russians will gain complete control of the southern seafront, then the east of Ukraine. Mariupol is now closed off entirely by Russia, and the Ukrainian troops entrenched at the steelworks can only survive until supplies run out. The remaining civilians in the city will die right there, like in Bucha. I wish heavy weaponry deliveries would hurry up!

But MOST of all, I wish the EU could decide *effective today* that they are stopping all energy imports from Russia. ALL OF IT. It's the only way to stop the war in its tracks, since Russia will die if it cannot export oil and gas. I lived in Germany, I know how much they depend on that oil and gas. I know the leadership of every European nation fears a populist uprising, from the likes of Marine Le Pen, who declared NATO should align with Putin, and promised to keep gas flowing and prices from rising. A lot of lower-income people are going to be swayed by such arguments because they won't be able to drive or heat their houses if the EU bans Russian gas.

We need to get oil and gas to Europe before the next winter and support Europe in its struggle to sever all ties with Russia!!!

They were used to soften up the Ukraine. Russia's advanced weaponry and elite divisions till haven't really been deployed yet. People shouldn't get confident at all that Russia has been 'struggling'. They are just getting warmed up, so I wouldn't extract a whole lot from the first week of combat.

Untrue. Russia also sent elite Spetznaz, Airborne VDV and other elite units, many of whom also got chewed up. Not to mention the half dozen or so Russian generals who have been killed along with dozens of colonels and lieutenant colonels. It's not just conscripts as cannon fodder. Russia is taking serious and significant losses.

+1 It’s Russian propaganda that the only soldiers who are dying are inexperienced rubes.

They are lying about the ones dying. Grossly underreported. Less than half of those who were aboard the Moskva when it was attacked have actually been accounted for by Russian reporting. Thousands of bodies of Russian soldiers still on ice in Ukrainian morgues and cold storage facilities awaiting to be claimed by their families, who don't know.

You say this as Ukraine continues to receive and transit Russian gas, and is being paid for it just like before. War is war and business is business.

And we are getting real world data on their units, equipment and the effect of various weapons systems on that equipment.

And let's throw a bit of saber-rattling in the mix.

There are Ukrainian civilians tracking units with the FindMy app because soldiers in those units stole their AirPods.

I just find it hard to understand why the republicans want a system of government like Russia has but it is what it is.

He is getting more like Kim Jong-Un. Kim Jong-Un must be feeling very flattered.
