Help me understand Republican women in their 30s and 40s

Where there IS data, it shows that trans inmates are far more likely to be abused in prison than other inmates are. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/federal-survey-transgender-inmates-more-likely-to-be-victims-of-sexual-assault/

But the transphobe will of course highlight a few examples in the news.

Yet for me I still don't see how or why that should be a cause for changing party affiliation and demand to pre-empt legislative agendas when for example I have a MUCH bigger problem with the vastly more destructive and damaging impacts of kids being shot to death in their elementary schools by the dozens, a result of not having robust mandatory universal background checks for guns, and thereby allowing people with a history of mental health problems, domestic violence and so on, not to mention lying on their 4473 forms as I'm sure that quite a few gun owners have done.

We have quite a few MUCH bigger problems in this country that need to get solved than the problem of trans people and prisons, and it's the Republicans who are holding us back from those much bigger issues.

I’m not moving on from the issue of men in women’s prisons until each and every male prisoner is incarcerated with other men.

You do you.

Until you can show some compelling data showing that trans people in prisons is a more important and significant issue than mass shootings or a whole host of other issues, I absolutely will do what I will, because my priorities make a lot more sense than yours.

Great! Let us know when you overturn 2A.

Sure, maybe we'll come and help you work on your trans issue with prisons... AFTER we get sensible gun controls, AFTER we get campaign finance reforms and voter protections and we end gerrymandering to make politics a more level playing field, AFTER we fix healthcare and all of the other problems in this country. So, if you want anyone's help, I suggest you get cracking and start helping US on those far more important issues that the rest of us are trying to solve - otherwise you'll be a long time waiting - because your Republican friends honestly don't really care what happens to prisoners behind bars.

Just like they didn’t really care about overturning Roe?

Have always been a Democrat but the left has moved so far left that I now seem to be on the Right. Main reason for me is the gender ideology the Left espouses. Just too shocking for me who wants the nuclear family intact. I respect all views and ok with each following their own as long as you don’t harm anyone but coming after kids is unacceptable. So grudgingly I will vote Trump and will identify as a new Republican

The whole "nuclear family" concept is a relatively recent one, and I think it's done a lot more damage than good. In my grandparents' time, instead of the nuclear family, it was the more traditional extended family where multiple generations might all live in the same house, where it was more about "it takes a village" with family members right there helping each other out, where it was much easier for grandparents to take care of the kids while the parents were working, and so on. But with the nuclear family, it's just parents and kids, typically far flung and scattered around, for lack of grandparents to watch the kids they get shuttled off to the hands of strangers in some expensive childcare and so on.

DP. So, uh, you think the state should step in to raise kids or something? 😳

If that’s what Democrats stand for, no thank you.

We’re not talking about the issues of grandma and aunties helping to watch the kids. Everyone agrees that it is nice to have trusted family members helping out with childcare.

The Republican nominee leads in the polls, and we control most state governorships. We also won the battle for the house, and the senate map is looking pretty good. Where exactly is the cost, particularly recognizing that most pro life voters are in the GOP?

The house is a mess with a tiny GOP majority. There was no red wave. The democrats flipped a house seat last year and this issue was definitely part of the campaign and the final decision.

The GOP was expected to take the house and did. As for the flipped seat, well yes, it was in New York which has gotten more blue and republicans left the state. New Yorkers aren’t indicative of a national election but the polls are - and they show Trump leading not only in battleground states but on the issues voters care most about.

Republicans won the House in 2022 only because reapportionment and gerrymandering eliminated some Democratic districts and created new Republican districts. The new maps were the difference.

The GOP can only win at this point by cheating. So they do and then they accuse the Dems of being the ones who cheat. Typical GOP projection. Cheating and lying. This thread is full of the lies they tell and it's shameful how many people believe these lies and don't see through the fact that the GOP is just manipulating them with fear and hate.

And then these women have the gall to come on here and go on about nuclear families and family values and the value of life and blah blah blah. What would any of you GOP women know about decency and values? You LOVE LOVE LOVE the hate and divisiveness of the GOP. You hate those immigrants and you hate those trans women and you hate the Democrats.

The GOP is the party of hateful hypocrites.

This is a thread about why people vote Republican. If you don’t believe them, why are you here?

[citation needed] - Exactly when did Obama, Pelosi, Schumer, Joe Biden, Hakeem Jeffries or any Democrat that matters ever say that families should be abolished and that all children should be raised by the state?

This must be the fourth or fifth post now where someone stated something along the lines of "I am no longer a Democrat because because of [insert false Republican propaganda strawman here]"

The irony is that with Republican measures to criminalize abortions, there will be a much larger number of kids being raised by the state. Congratulations on the self-own, Republicans.

It seems like you aren’t following the point of this thread. It’s for people who identify as a republican to explain their views and yes that is going to include people who were formerly democrats. That’s literally what OP was asking to learn about - what persuaded them to become GOP. The fact that it’s hard for you to understand isn’t the point; they are sharing their own opinions.

You don’t understand conservatives very well if you think they would prefer an abortion to adoption or foster care. Regardless, not seeing evidence of your theory.

A citation to BACK UP the poster's view that "Democrats want children to be raised by the state." If you can't actually back up your views of Democrats with reality and citations then it's' probably not the Democrats who are the problem, it's your factless opinions and the disinformation that led you to those views that are the problem.
