The whole "nuclear family" concept is a relatively recent one, and I think it's done a lot more damage than good. In my grandparents' time, instead of the nuclear family, it was the more traditional extended family where multiple generations might all live in the same house, where it was more about "it takes a village" with family members right there helping each other out, where it was much easier for grandparents to take care of the kids while the parents were working, and so on. But with the nuclear family, it's just parents and kids, typically far flung and scattered around, for lack of grandparents to watch the kids they get shuttled off to the hands of strangers in some expensive childcare and so on.

DP. So, uh, you think the state should step in to raise kids or something? 😳

If that’s what Democrats stand for, no thank you.

The irony is that with Republican measures to criminalize abortions, there will be a much larger number of kids being raised by the state. Congratulations on the self-own, Republicans.

You don’t understand conservatives very well if you think they would prefer an abortion to adoption or foster care. Regardless, not seeing evidence of your theory.

Sure but don't come attacking Democrats accusing them of wanting them to have kids raised by the state when your own policies are driving kids into foster care to be raised by the state.

[citation needed] - Exactly when did Obama, Pelosi, Schumer, Joe Biden, Hakeem Jeffries or any Democrat that matters ever say that families should be abolished and that all children should be raised by the state?

This must be the fourth or fifth post now where someone stated something along the lines of "I am no longer a Democrat because because of [insert false Republican propaganda strawman here]"

It seems like you aren’t following the point of this thread. It’s for people who identify as a republican to explain their views and yes that is going to include people who were formerly democrats. That’s literally what OP was asking to learn about - what persuaded them to become GOP. The fact that it’s hard for you to understand isn’t the point; they are sharing their own opinions.

It's not really explaining one's views when one says "I believe up is down and red is blue" and not being able to explain themselves when their views are exposed as counterfactual or contradictory.

Yet another thing that makes people sick of the left. Constantly accusing people of lying because you don't like what they have to say.

So true. The extreme political left in this country wants to overthrow the Constitution and start anew. They are represented by none other than our current Vice President right now, who was the only person in the chamber wearing brown when Ukrainian Zelensky came to speak to Congress in 2022. She’s siding with the very people who were permitted to spray “Death to Amerikka” on the Marquis de Lafayette statue this weekend.

The survival of our country and our constitution is far more important to me than any single Supreme Court decision. The Supreme Court has tossed unresolved legal issues back to Congress on many occasions. If you are angry at any single decision, write to your failed Democratic representatives in Congress who have had single party rule multiple times in the last two decades but have failed to pass a law that expressly defines what is permitted legally in women’s healthcare.

Liberals always think they are the only ones knowledgeable and everyone else is misinformed even when people are trying to explain why they left the party. It’s exhausting. Maybe try listening and then you wouldn’t have a nominee that polls behind a convicted felon.

I am a lifelong Republican. But I don't like the way the GOP is responding to transgender issues and denying the existence of transgenderism. I am going to switch and now vote for Democrats.

Ppl explain why they “left the party” and the reasons, to me, are insane. It’s all about money.

No one mentioned money in their responses. Your disagreement with their reasoning won’t impact their November votes.

A woman voting for democrats isn’t answering OP’s question so that would be a different thread. Feel free to start one.

This thread is for why women vote Republican. You are voting Dem due to trans issues. Go ahead and start your own thread on that.

I doubt it Will last very long though, the owner likes to delete any trans content he dislikes.

Listen to Republicans in Congress. Listen to Trump. They are amazingly misinformed and proud of their ignorance and dysfunction.

The question is why would you want those idiots running the government just because some random person on the internet hurt your feelings? Biden and other Democrats in office have done no harm to you and yours, yet you proudly support incompetent demagogues apparently because you love that they promise to kick and stomp on vulnerable groups of people for your entertainment?

Citation for what?!? PP is asking for clarification on that poster’s own views.

A citation to BACK UP the poster's view that "Democrats want children to be raised by the state." If you can't actually back up your views of Democrats with reality and citations then it's' probably not the Democrats who are the problem, it's your factless opinions and the disinformation that led you to those views that are the problem.

Please quote the exact lines where that poster said exactly this.

What is remarkable in this thread is how many times the Democratic partisans have wildly mischaracterized a post from a non-Democrat and then when asked for hard proof of the exact quote, can’t provide it. They are all a bunch of liars, is what I am getting.

+1

I have come to the view that the extreme left is more of a threat to this country than the extreme right. Weirdly, the behavior of the extreme left has made me more sympathetic to the gun nutters than I’ve ever been in my life before. I’m still fiercely pro gun control, but I’ve never understood the reasoning of the 2A zealots before. I still don’t agree with them on everything, but I understand their position now. Nobody should be defenseless against the extreme left.
