McLean not laying down after Arlington ECNL

Not sure if SYC applied to GA.

Neither will get in and certainly SYC will not get in now. SYC will likely lose its MLS connection and their boys program will likely weaken over time.

Anyone who pays 1,000,000 for 1800 square feet in Arlington is not that smart. Rich, perhaps. But not smart.

I paid $1.0 million in 2009 and that same house is now worth $1.8 million. I am also next to Metro, can walk anywhere and a 5 min drive to DC and an airport.

God- I’m soooooo dumb.

Uh, yeah, you are pretty stupid if you are confusing real estate appreciation with intelligence. I am sorry it’s so confusing for you. You will have a nice little nest egg after you retire from your entirely mediocre career. You can always look back, though, and tell your grandkids how you singlehandedly figured out how to buy low in a recession, do nothing, and enjoy the real estate boom. They will beam with pride, and when you tell them how you could walk anywhere, howl with delight. And the metro? Simply overwhelming. How did you figure it all out while scheming which mediocre kickball team your kid will play for in Arlington?

You took the words right out of my mouth! Perfect!

Why do you think they will lose it? I heard they are getting more age groups?

Because one of the leagues has to be the A team. There are MLS clubs who's B teams play in ECNL and that expectation would have to continue with SYC or they would lose their slot.

I know there are a lot of ECNL backers here but on the boys side MLS is top dog and will always remain so.

My thinking is that on the boys side SYC's top team would play MLS and McLean's ECNL. On the girls side McLean would play ECNL and SYC in CCL.

Then what exactly is the point of a merger? LOL

I'm pretty certain it's not a merger but instead a partnership. They are too far of a distance to be merged together.

Yeah, and the point of the partnership is to get all of the best players together otherwise what is the point?

Only B team players will remain at their original club.

McLean is no stranger to this, they had a deal with Arlington a few years ago. That didn't last at all. The only way this works is if they both make some concessions and partner up similar to Metro United or VDA and then feed into that. That would put some meat on the bones.

It's not a merger. This can't work long term for the reasons set forth above.

Silly fools. Funny how Arlington got ECNL and now all other clubs want to band together

Isn't that exactly what is happening right now? I'm confused as to why you are "thinking" this will happen. That is already happening

If the clubs are merging the expectation is that the players would be combined to the A teams. Is this really that difficult for you to understand how these things work? It is about player acquisition for McLean. If MLS teams at SYC are not filled with the A team players then SYC runs the risk of getting kicked out of MLS.

If the top SYC players do not go to McLean's ECNL teams then what was the point of the merger?

It is more clear cut for SYC girls, they go to ECNL at McLean as SYC only plays in either CCL or EDP on the girls side.

McLean will not have put themselves in a position where they can get hurt by this "alliance" but SYC will most definitely be picked clean.

Exactly... what is the point? If SYC girls want ECNL then they should just go to an ECNL team! If you are in Springfield there are 2 closer than McLean. You can go to BRYC or VDA. If you have a girls 2009-2006 go to VDA. If you have a 2005 or 2004 go to McLean as long as you don't mind being on a 30 girl roster. Not sure BRYC is any better than SYC. Their last good team is leaving

If SYC is smart they will not do this. It will ruin their girls program. It will start with the SYC girls practicing and playing with McLean ECNL as DP players. Then the next year they leave SYC and will be permanently on McLean. Trust me when I say if they partner with McLean they will be partnering with the devil. On the boys side there are hardly any great boys players. Not enough to save the team. The McLean boys parents aren't going to drive to Springfield. If they want to be on a higher level of play they will go to Arlington if they can make it.
