My kids learn PLENTY about Europe and white accomplishments in school. My DD did a living history project about Helen Keller this year. She was white and Protestant. My kids all love George Washington, Jefferson etc. B.c of what they learned in school. Please stop learning about what happens in school from Fox or Limbaugh. They are lying to you. |

DP. I disagree. They are not. They should not be able to compete in women's sports. The end. They are biologically male. I am in favor of all gay rights, and you can be as trans as you want, but I do draw the line at competing at women's sports. This is simply insane. I am not a dog, or a tree, and I ...just no. |

OP I do I fear that there is a subsection of society that has definitely become emboldened to express their racist mindset. I am an UMC black Non American woman married to a white man so, no, I don’t think all white people are racist and I don’t dislike white people. 90% of my friends are white. My in-laws are European and cannot fathom the acrid racism that has been exposed in America in the last few years. After living in America for almost 20 years, albeit in a progressive bubble where my race had never been an issue and I hardly ever thought it (and I know that is partly because I am not African American and all the history comes with that and about which I deeply sympathize) the last 4 years have been eye opening. I have had the police/security called on me three times, I’ve had nasty foul racist slurs yelled (thankfully I was in my far because I was so scared) at me with the demand that I go home to where I belong, I’ve been stopped while leaving a store to be asked whether the toy my daughter was playing with (which she’d brought in with her) had been paid for- security guards called etc.
Had I been white, I know the police/security would not have been called - I dress very conservatively with a preppy look with some very clear indications that I am nor poor or out to steal (please don’t focus on this. Said only to show that a white women dressed similarly would not be viewed with suspicion) . Two examples -once the police were called because I wanted to return a broken scotch tape which was broken when I opened it - I was accused of stealing, of breaking it myself and returning it. Thankfully the police -2 -as backup was clearly needed, were as perplexed as I was. Another time police were called because I was parked in my parking space at my place of business which I own, part of which I rent out to the neighboring business. A new member of staff of the other business saw me park in my usual parking spot assumed I was parking illegally and just out shopping I suppose. I explained that it was my space and moved on. Next thing I knew, I had a policeman - all of 21 if he was a day- knocking on the door of my place of business insisting that I remove my car. I explained again that it was my legitimate parking spot and that I owned both buildings and was working but he seemed incapable of grasping this and insisted that I move my car while the staff member smirked. I moved it and later took my deeds to the police station to report said officer who was made to apologize. Thankfully, living and working in an affluent part of NW DC I was treated well by the police. I do worry that my teenage son, in a different part of town minding his own business, well I just pray for his safety. It’s a frightening way to live and not something I ever expected to be thinking about at this point in civilization. |

Biological men shouldn't be competing against biological females. Period. In fact, if you want to drum biological females out of sports altogether, making them compete against biological males would be the way to do it. |

Mmmkay What should we do about women who have naturally high testosterone levels? Or Androgen insensitivity? They are XY but have "female" external genitalia. Or any number of Intersex conditions? Or maybe...just maybe.. sex and gender are complicated and non-binary. |

For most people it is not complicated. People like Bruce/Caitlin Jenner are born one sex and then identify as another sex. Do you think that Jenner should have been able to compete as a female? i don't. |

So what if the trans woman had bottom surgery? Or took an androgen blocking drug? Aren't they then just like someone born Androgen Insensitive? |

No. They are a person who developed biologically as a man and then chose to surgically alter their body with surgery and feminizing hormones. It doesn't change the fact that their body developed as a male, though. |

But once the testosterone is gone...that boost it gives to lean muscle mass is gone too and the muscles atrophy. |
