1). Monika Lewinsky was harmed in a bad power dynamic, AND she's not blameless. She stalked BC and went after him (OW are usually eviscerated on this board, no matter how much they say they are naive or under the sway of an older, powerful man).

2). Linds tripp was an awful scheming person AND she also probably was the only one who did the right thing (by reporting what was going on).

And my bonus:

3) I'm surprised there's not been more alternate reality analysis if what had happened if BC had resigned in February 1998. It would have ben more than two years into the presidency, which means Al Gore would've gotten two years, PLUS could've run for two more terms. If Clinton resigned, do we get Hilary as a Senator? eDo we get Barrack Obama (maybe Hilary divorces Bill and runs for Senate in Illinois)? Do we get Hilary as presidential candidate? Does 9/11 happen? re we in wars in Afghanistan and Iraq? Do we get Trump as president? My take is, BC should have resigned, and we would not have had Trump as president. I think there's a direct line.

Agree with all three of your takes (but still think 9/11 would have happened, but with a different response). I remember thinking this at the time--Bill should have resigned, maybe not in February, but in August. Then Gore would have been running for reelection, and would probably have won in 2000, etc, etc. A direct line to Trump for sure.

10 pm on FX. Probably on Hulu by now.

I just read an article saying this show will NOT be released on regular Hulu. The deal that Ryan. Udon made apparently has Netflix streaming rights. But it won’t be streaming until next year.

I watched it on demand on sling today.

ugh, balls!

i've been having issues with my dvr through verizon and of course it chose last night to act up. i thought for sure i could just watch it on hulu today, but no, of course not.

off to fight with verizon tech support for another hour while they tell me it's a connection issue, not a hardware issues.

I still can’t get over that they picked Beanie—they can give her the haircut and clothes but she does NOT resemble Monica! Arghhhh

Can you even imagine being in her shoes?

She could have changed her name and moved on with her life

I never understood why Monica didn’t just change her name and move to Australia or South Africa or Ireland or Scotland and start anew. Even Linda Tripp managed to re-marry and make a life in suburban DC, for gods-sakes. Monica totally could have changed her name, gotten some minor surgery to change her appearance and start anew. She is gorgeous and rich (her parents have bank-rolled her for years). Why not start a-new?

Why did she stay the same? I really feel sad for her. I know she was wronged by the Clintons and society. I’m on her side 1000%. I just wished she had tried to make a life for herself outside of the spotlight.

I know two interns that worked with Bill Clinton and neither of them had an affair with him. It’s called having morals and being a professional.

But we didn't know that much about Linda, other than the fact that she was a shitty friend. Everyone knew EVERYTHING about Monica's personal life. I remember an interview she did with barbara Walters years ago and Barbara asked the same thing you did. Monica was like...who would take me home to meet his parents?

And to the person right above me who said "It's called being a professional." Okay. Because you and I never did anything unprofessional at 24.

I think you have to separate the affair from the the media circus. Monica was half of the adults in the affair, which should’ve been resolved privately. I assume most politicians are having affairs, and public knowledge of those affairs is only important when it exposes hypocritical policy positions.

Monica is completely blameless for the media circus and public shaming. I’m struggling to think of what Tripp did right here. You don’t tape and betray a friend. Tripp was vile.

I don’t think Clinton resigning would’ve changed the trajectory. The GOP politics that led to Trump was set in motion by Newt in the 90s. Maybe if Newt’s affairs were treated similar to Clinton’s, Trump would have remained a bankrupt businessman.

Maybe you did and that’s why you like her.

Anonymous wrote:It’s terrific that the narrative has changed so that we see the Monica Lewinsky occurrence for what it was. Shame she’s had to spend twenty years of her life as an outcast while Bill (and Hill!) were able to put it behind them and reign as the ideological figures of the Democratic Party. Bill Clinton, for all his charm and brilliance, is a womanizer and possibly a rapist. I will definitely be watching.

Agree, but why would you think that all those women would be lying about what Bill Clinton did to them?

He's a proven DB over and over. Still while Monica was also a horrible person he was the president that was abusing the office. Thanks to Linda trip it was all proven, not to mention the dress Monica was saving probably to blackmail him one day.

+1.
That Feldstein girl is very dowdy-looking. Bill Clinton, surely, was a womanizer, but I don't think even he'd fall for her.
Monica, on the other hand, at her heyday, was attractive, no questions asked.

Are. you. kidding. us? Ole Bill looked at anything female.

+1 I mean, just look at HRC.

Same with Bill. He wasn't going to be doing any beauty contests either, not an attractive man ever!

Outcast? She’s exploited this and milked it for all it’s worth for over 20 years.

She's only proven she hasn't changed. No dignity or morals.

Anonymous wrote:Monica absolutely was suicidal at a couple points. They discuss this in Slow Burn, and I’m pretty sure she has been open about this in her writings and public appearances. Can you even imagine being in her shoes? The whole damn world knows your personal business? Not to mention being in legal peril.

She didn't deserve to be a pariah forever. However, what she did was pretty bad. A married man and the president of the U.S.

She should have stayed over seas and moved on. She's only embarrassing herself now and once again her family.

Thank you - I was just coming here to say that! Surely there was an actress who better resembled Lewinsky?? She seems like a terrible choice.
