Next up for American Crime Story: “Impeachment” produces by Monica Lewinsky

I find her believable, great acting and a striking resemblance. ML appearance back then was not a “wow” or put together, and many people were bewildered why it happened and why her?

I think Beanie’s portrayal is spot on, as I remember the events.

It's not that she isn't a good actress. It's just that Monica was/is SO MUCH PRETTIER.

I agree with this. Monica wasn't really, really overweight, and had an elegance about her that Beanie can't quite replicate. I think it would be better if that actress had some of Monica's wow factor.

Yeah, Beanie is just larger than Monica was. Now, Monica did put on weight during the whole ordeal of 1998-1999. I get it - I'm much pudgier now than I was at the start of 2020 ;P

However, it played in the show almost like an accident

OMG just as I imagined. With the beret on. Sexy.

Which episode was this? I haven't seen the thong scene yet.

It was in the first episode, IIRC. You just missed it.

+1
Beanie is short and stout - there, I said it. Monica was not - she was voluptuous and rounded, but not fat. It's very distracting seeing Beanie clump around.

This isn't true at all. I remember everyone commenting on how beautiful she was. Very striking.

How old are you all who keep talking about how everyone was saying Monica was so beautiful? I was in my mid-30s, and paying keen attention because her lawyers were near our office, and the sidewalk was a madhouse. No one was saying she was beautiful at the time. In fact, there were constant jokes about her appearance.

I was also in my mid-30s. It was noted that she was somewhat heavy, but everyone I knew commented on how pretty she was.

I just went back and rewatched - no thong. Anyone know what episode it's in?

How explicit is it?

My DDs are older teens now, but I would have watched with them at those ages. It is both history and can give you a great teachable moment with your DDs about affairs and power dynamics, and frienemies. There is so much stuff there to inoculate your kids with.

I am so sorry - the scene was in episode 2. I just found an article that talks s out how Monica insisted it stay in.

Is anyone still watching this? This week's episode was the big Hillary episode, where Bill finally tells her that he had the affair and he testifies before the Grand Jury and the Clintons (with Chelsea) go on the worst vacation every to Martha's Vinyard to "celebrate" Bill's birthday.

We watched it last night and I can't stop thinking about it. It made me really angry, surprisingly so since this is all old news at this point. And through most of this series so far, I've been mostly focused on Monica (as the series intends) and how she was used and manipulated by so many powerful people for reasons that had absolutely nothing to do with her as a person. But this episode's focus on Hillary just brought home for me how absolutely enraging Bill's behavior was, and the degree to which he screwed over all the women in his life (his wife, Monica, his daughter, the many women in his cabinet and administration, feminist allies, etc.) by doing this stuff, lying about it, and then needing ALL of their help to get out of it. And I've thought for a while now that these women shouldn't have helped him. I think he should have resigned. He was and is a sexual predator.

Anyway, midway through the episode my DH made some comment about "This is so bad but it just reminds me of Trump and how much worse he was." And listen, I hate Donald Trump with the fire of a thousand suns, but even this comment pissed me off. Bill Clinton was a gross asshole and you can't just compare gross assholes to Donald Trump as a get out of jail free card because everyone is going to look okay when lined up against Trump. It's like using Hitler as your baseline for a bad leader -- lots of room to be terrible without being Hitler, let's leave him out of it.

Anonymous wrote:Monica absolutely was suicidal at a couple points. They discuss this in Slow Burn, and I’m pretty sure she has been open about this in her writings and public appearances. Can you even imagine being in her shoes? The whole damn world knows your personal business? Not to mention being in legal peril.

She didn't deserve to be a pariah forever. However, what she did was pretty bad. A married man and the president of the U.S.

She should have stayed over seas and moved on. She's only embarrassing herself now and once again her family.

She didn’t deserve to be a pariah at all and was the not the one abusing their position or cheating on their spouse. The worst thing she did was trust Tripp. She shouldn’t have to move, and profiting off what the public, Clinton, and the GOP did to her is not embarrassing. Good for her for taking control of the narrative.

LOL, the GOP. How about mentioning Clinton’s team, you know, the people who smeared ML’s name all over the world…

Monica only had herself to blame. Not the people that caught her, or told on her. She hurt a lot of people.

DM has an article about it. I had nearly forgotten that piece of her story.

Just as Bill was a serial cheater, she was a serial...I'm not sure what you call a young woman who sleeps with married men?

I think terms used then and now are quite appropriate for her. She should have changed her name and stayed overseas. To bask in the limelight of her horrible actions shows she has little shame and few morals.

And she was selfish and self-centered and didn’t care about Hillary or Chelsea, only about getting a thrill or validation that she was desirable at all costs. Her making this movie is the same as all the 90 day fiancé fame whores, flowers and any low-life who tries to make money off of their infamy or by any means possible.

What sets her apart from the rest of the scandal seeking dregs, is, nothing.

Yes her family must be real proud. I didn't know she had an affair with a married guy before that. She's worse than I thought.
