3) I'm surprised there's not been more alternate reality analysis if what had happened if BC had resigned in February 1998.  It would have ben more than two years into the presidency, which means Al Gore would've gotten two years, PLUS could've run for two more terms.  If Clinton resigned, do we get Hilary as a Senator?  eDo we get Barrack Obama (maybe Hilary divorces Bill and runs for Senate in Illinois)?  Do we get Hilary as presidential candidate? Does 9/11 happen?  re we in wars in Afghanistan and Iraq?  Do we get Trump as president?  My take is, BC should have resigned, and we would not have had Trump as president.  I think there's a direct line.  [/quote]

Agree with all three of your takes (but still think 9/11 would have happened, but with a different response). I remember thinking this at the time--Bill should have resigned, maybe not in February, but in August. Then Gore would have been running for reelection, and would probably have won in 2000, etc, etc. A direct line to Trump for sure.[/quote]
