It is for fun first and foremost -- like reading your horoscope (don't change your job based on what it says).

Swami is a shrewd observer of the lottery, and makes "predictions" about your chances. Has done it the last few years.

She is pretty accurate when handicapping one's WL numbers, and whether they will get an offer between the lottery results date and the first day of school. Her writing style is always amusing.

Some take it all too seriously, IMO .. and freak out if she doesn't log in for a couple of days.

Swami is funny, wry, and quite knowledgeable about a large number of schools. It is entertaining and impressive.

SWAMI! You are awesome and hilarious!! Can you please run for mayor so we can all vote for you? Or let us know when your gig is at Comedy Central?

okay Swami

The wait has killed me and I'm a ball of nervous energy. Please assuage my fears!!!

ITS
DC Bilingual
Powell (hail Mary)
Breakthrough Petworth
Breakthrough Takoma
Barnard
West (IB)
Sheperd (I know. I didn't have 12 and thought, why not but there is no chance in heck)
EL Haynes (we live rather close, so this would be nice only in terms of walking to school)

We will be perfectly happy at Breakthrough. They have wonderful guides and we have done Montessori before. The Tier 3 does not scare me. I know a school is bigger than a star rating or a Tier.

Please, Swami will we win?

Swami! We're a lottery newbie for PK3 (no sibling preference). After attending open houses at our top 2 schools, tell us if our gamble will pay off or our rising PK3er will return to daycare next year.

1. Ludlow-Taylor (IB school)
2. SWS
3. TR 4th Street

Your kids will both get "good enough" numbers, with the louder one pulling in their twin to Mundo 8th. You will smugly enjoy a good year as P Street goes to the hell with the double campus issue. You feel good enough about your DCI chance with having twins. You will lead a petition to buy out Scrilli to gain better playground space.

-Swami

haha -- I'm a scrilli mom and this made me laugh out loud. Glad we won't be at Scrilli next year for the drop-off mayhem.

Nope, and as a result you will double down on your Reggio inspired craft corner at home and add some more sticks.

Good schools, but not likely you'll get a seat out of bounds.

Swami thinks Montessori is where its at this year with CHML swinging and Lee opening a second campus. Settle in at Breakthrough and lobby for a healthier school lunch.

This is the list of someone that is either (1) fairly happy where they are so would only move for something better, or (2) a backup plan to move or go private if the lottery doesn’t work out.
