Yup. Looks like every room is from Restoration Hardware. I love a lot about the house, but the floors do look like laminates. The busts are bizarre. The Degas replica is creepy. |
Truly terrible house, also the staging is atrocious. All the finishes look cheap and the light fixtures are grotesque. |
I think it's a nice house, though I wouldn't pay $4.2m for it. It's nice to see something that isn't all wooden panels and crown moldings and the heavy traditional stuff. I don't think it's "cold" - it has been staged to look very bland, but if you lived there you'd put your own things in there and it could look great. I would add colorful rugs, a few colored accent chairs, etc and I would change the light fixtures as I really don't like them. The staging is particularly strange though because there were so many rooms which just had a random chaise or something - it didn't give you a good idea of what you could use the room for or why it is there. |
I really like the windows, hate the outdoor hand railing they have for the stairs. The problem with this house is it has absolutely no architectural design features. Would make a great home if you have an exquisite art collection you'd like to display, since there are no features of interest.
For that price one could do better. |
That is the point of a McMansion! there is no purpose. |
I'm having a difficult time imagining how to even decorate this home. The current staging is atrocious, but I don't think the design elements chosen by the contractor easily lend themselves to other forms of styling.
Everything is just so boxy and big. Yuck. Also, at this price I'm expecting a damn pool. The landscaping and exterior is really a let down for $4m+. I expect outdoor living areas, an outdoor, kitchen, built-in grill and exquisite masonry, pool, etc. |
More comments: The roof does not appear to be slate. COME ON. So many homes in Kenwood have the classic slate roof and this builder appears to have skipped that detail. At $4m you better have a f#cking slate roof in Kenwood. The home is lacking thoughtfully considered details. I'm not seeing the little touches that make buyers of a $4m home fall in love with it. For example, the 2nd floor landing at the top of the stairs. It's just empty space...no consideration by the developer to make this a usable space. Where are the built-in bookshelves or storage? Zero window coverings in this home. The developer should be providing window covering design services for whomever buys this house. It will need at least $30K in window coverings. This is a $2.7m house parading as a $4.3m home. I'm not seeing any recent comps (in last 2 years) that support this price. |
This has got to be a Banks Development home. It screams it. A very distinctive look. I personally like it but its not for everyone. |
I don't like the exterior at all. I agree that the interior is very antiseptic and cold. |
Hunh. Interestingly it isn't a Banks home. I just looked it up. Built by Capitol Living Group out of Silver Spring. Im very surprised. |
That is some seriously pretentious staging |
This. The house is an aggressive marketing job, not a top quality house. Let's see if anyone falls for the bait. |
I thought the same, this place looks like Banks's $20M place on Chain Bridge Road was forced to breed with a Restoration Hardware catalog. |
Too modern, cold, and uninviting. |
Awful. |
