Phen Pro. Is it safe?

Phenpro works, but is most effective in the first two months. The trick is to use this great hunger-zapped period to reset your eating habits. Small meals, no snacking, no junk, avoid sugar. When the drug combo becomes less effective over time (what happened to me), your body has become better trained, with fewer cravings etc. Still takes discipline. Good luck!

I'm on week two of Phenpro and feel it's already lost some of its effectiveness. The first week was great - I had to force myself to eat. Now, I'm definitely feeling hunger again and my daughter's cupcake smelled amazing. So, I'd say it does help some but it's not a ticket to losing weight without will power.

I'd speak to whoever your doctor was that prescribed it. I've never found it to lose its effective in week 2. Nor should it. That's not how the combo works. Are you taking it at the right time of day? Are you following a proper diet with it? Something sounds off.

I'm taking 37.5 mg Adipex a day, split in half. One at 8, the other half at 2pm. Then in the evening, 5mg Lexapro. I'm sticking with low carb foods. Maybe my expectations were off. Yes, it is easier to say no to junk, but I still get hungry during the day and food sounds good. Maybe I need to eat more. I somehow expected it would completely kill my appetite like it did in week one, but that probably wouldn't be a healthy thing longer term.

I am in week 10 and I have lost 28 pounds. I did a lot of reading online to make sure that I was maximizing the effectiveness.

1. I bite it and write it every day - track every calorie and I have a target (1400 cal) that I am staying under. Of the 70 or so days, I have been under this target all but one time, and I was over by 150 cals on that one day.

2. Coffee cuts the effectiveness. I switched to decaf and haven't had any caffeine at all during this period

3. Lots of water as someone mentioned.

4. If hungry, eat a little snack, like 100 calories and then jam down two big glasses of water.

5. Alcohol also cuts the effectiveness. I am not a huge drinker but I have trimmed way back except for the odd social events. Alcohol calories count, too - be sure to count those.

If you want it to be effective, you have to work at it - you can't just change habits and expect the pill to work. I look at the pill curbing hunger as a gift and I am trying to appreciate and use it while changing my habits.


I will likely talk my doctor into a fourth month, but I know that if I go in for the weigh in and BP check this month and I don't have weight loss to show for it, she will say it is losing its effectiveness so I am digging in deeper, exercising 4-5 times a week to get that number as low as possible. I am hoping to trim off 45 pounds or more in four months. When I started, I thought that 30 pounds would be great, but I will soon be well beyond that so I am trying to get down another 10-15 to hit my true goal weight that I thought was out of reach.

This was my experience, as well. By the end of the first month it was like I was taking a placebo.

I am an exception. I have been exercising a lot more while taking it. No affect - in fact I think it doubles the energy I have. On the days I exercise I find I only need 4-5 hours of sleep. A little more when I don't.

You may be taking that out of context. He is not a fan of exercise as a tool to lose weight. Exercise burns calories & makes you hungry, which is why it is difficult to use to lose weight. Exercising to be fit & healthy is fine.

This is OP. I'm into my second week on the phen. Lost 4.1 lbs last week. I took half a pill per day to ramp up the first week.

I'm not adoring the way I feel on this medication (frenetic, anxious, similar to how I feel after too much caffeine) but I'm going to stick it out this week to see if it gets better.

I focused on really cleaning up my diet last week, and looking back into my journal, I was about 80 percent successful.

This coming week, I'm going to try to add in at least three hours of exercise.

Congratulations on the 4.1 lbs lost, OP! That's great! And congrats on cleaning up your diet. I know it isn't easy, but it's worth it. Take it easy on the exercise though and don't feel like you have to go hard as you're ramping up to a full pill a day. I'm so proud of you though and I wish you great success!

I plan to ramp up my exercise gradually -- high intensity now is probably not going to be anywhere near high intensity prepregnancy. But I think I can get there. I enjoy lifting weights, so I got a copy of The Female Body Breakthrough for its lifting regimen.
