So, I've been doing the 1/2 dose since Friday 3/17. Started at 163.2 at 159.2 this morning. I have been much more careful about when I am eating, probably more than what I am eating. Little things like nothing even sweet tasting (even no-calorie drinks) unless with a meal, then it might be two sips of a soft drink or a bite of an apple fritter. No snacking, even healthy things like nuts. Cut out my 2-3 cups a day of coffee, much easier than I had expected. I always drink a lot of water.
I'm taking both pills around 9am. The hunger and cravings for food do seem to be much more diminished. I do still get a little hungry, or maybe it is just cravings, in the evenings. Start thinking I should have some potato chips but after drinking some water decide that I don't really want them. No negative side effects, but I am only on 1/2 dose. Not sure if it has affected my sleeping since that was always a little sketchy. I am waking up about 45-60 minutes earlier but am not tired. maybe a little less regular bowel movements, but that could be attributed to eating less food. No acne, knock on wood. yes, Dr. Anchors is an odd duck, imagine Bernie Sanders going on about starch & skinny woman. He gave me 2 months of both pills, cost was $170. His sister, the receptionist, was very sweet and a big animal lover. she took my blood pressure and asked some basic health questions. |
Wanted to post my update. Now about 90 days is - had a great month - have lost 46 pounds. Originally thought that if I could lose 30 that I could handle the rest on my own but now I am close to my goal and I am going to get one more month and hopefully get to 60 lbs. Have been drinking a lot of water with lemon, only decaf coffee - big glass of water before every meal and going for a good long walk 4-5 days a week. Trying to make the most of this. Read a lot about how it becomes less effective over time but that has not been my experience. Have been tracking calories every day and have been right on budget the whole way. Had a long chat with my doctor last month about long term programs - a reduced dose, other drugs, and no dice - she wasn't interested. While this has been a fun ride, I am starting to worry about the impact of jumping off of it at the end of April. Not having an appetite is just so amazing I can't even describe it. I have so much angst tied to eating, always feel terrible every time I overeat, lots of guilt, etc. Haven't had any of those feelings this year - this pill has been great for me. |
Thanks for the update. Congratulations on your impressive weight loss! Sorry if I missed this, but are you taking Phentermine or Phentamine? Also, do you combine it with Prozac or similar? I'm currently on day 30 of Phenpro and, so far, have not noticed it losing effect, either. I do worry about this later in the process though. |

OP again. Here's my update after week 2.
Weight lost this week: 3.3 lbs Total: 7.4 lbs I started taking the full pill this week. My adjustment probably was rougher than it should have been because of my midweek dentist appointment. That hurt, so I ate next to nothing that day. My dr had warned me not to do that, and now I understand why. Changes made to diet: I feel like keto is unrealistic in this household, but small changes have been easy. I make myself cauliflower rice. I use lettuce for bread. I have not had a bite of my trigger foods, cereal and sugar added peanut butter since I started. No more frozen meals. I had homemade (and healthy!) chicken taco filling and avocado over salad. I haven't really restricted dairy or fruit. However, I ate a reasonable portion of pizza when we went to Matchbox with my cousin. I did have a Starbucks spinach wrap on a day when I was too tired to deal with making lunch. I'm making lasagna and garlic bread for a dinner party tomorrow, but when I go out for lunch with a colleague, I'll be eating sashimi and edamame instead of a full-on rice roll. Exercise: Not good AT ALL. I have to get better. |
| OP: to the previous PP, just phen. No topamine or Prozac because I didn't want the possible side effects. |
| Did you guys try to lose weight without medication first? I talked to my doctor about phen, and she wants me to try on my own first and then call her back if I decide I definitely want meds. I have had a perfect week dieting and exercising, tracking everything, and literally my weight is exactly the same. I know it's only. Even a week, but most people have a big loss the first week. I'm frustrated and I'm wondering how long is reasonable to keep trying before calling my doctor back. |
| Any men that have done this? Is it as effective for them as for women? Thinking of suggesting for a male in his twenties. |
| New poster. First day today on phen pro. Starting with 1/2 pill of phen. It's great to hear others checking in regularly. |

I met with Dr Anchors and started this week. His delivery is quirky but his information is solid and science backed (his opinions are his own). I respect that he has done so much research and due diligence about the efficacy of his medicine and his methods.
I am always worried about side effects but so far I've had not trouble sleeping, no anxious feelings and my hunger has been pretty zapped with half a pill. Food just seems less interesting. I wasn't planning to cut out wine entirely, but my husband opened a bottle last night and I had not taste for it. It's too early to tell if I've lost weight but but I'm hopeful. |
This is OP. I did try, but I couldn't break the habits that I'd started postpartum. That is 100 percent on me. My doctor told me to consider this a "hard reset" and warned me that I had to get my act together for this to be a permanent change. If I didn't, I'd just pile the weight back on. (Hypothyroidism aside, of course. That's out of my control.) "Getting [my] act together" means drinking enough water, sleeping 6+ hours a night, eating a balanced and healthy diet with appropriate quantities of food (i.e., no bingeing or starving), and exercising regularly. I am a little worried that this will spiral back out of control once I stop, but I've been tracking pretty religiously with the Weight Watchers app and trying to minimize, though not eliminate (it's not reasonable), my non--apple and berry carbs. Hopefully, I can get into a groove before the next 10 weeks elapse. |
| Okay so can someone give specifics. His website is a mess. What number do I call to make an appointment? Thanks! |

No, he was very clear. So I asked about walking, and he said that was fine. He said nothing more intense than that. |
He talked about studies saying vigorous exercise correlates to a higher incidence of heart attacks, blamed his own on that. |
| I eat very little now (fewer than 1400 calories) yet still don't lose weight. I have to eat this little to not gain massive weight. I did whole30 in Jan and still practice very low carb. I'm wondering if this will do anything for me. I saw him once about 5 years ago but kept gaining. It was then that I discovered I had Hashimotos. Has anyone seen success with this program with Hashimotos? Even if I wouldn't be decreasing calories much? I swear my metabolism works when I'm pregnant. I'm 10 months pp. I lost 10 lbs in first trimester, then only gained 15 lbs. Lost it all then gained it after 2-3 weeks (while still breastfeeding). I swear I'd pay anything just for a normal functioning metabolism so I can lose it with diet and exercise. I have 50 lbs to lose. |
