Phen Pro. Is it safe?

Anonymous
I’ve been off a one month usage of Phentermine (not the Phen Pro) for several weeks now and I haven’t gained anything back although I am eating only slightly less than I was before I took the pills. I lost 8 pounds (134 to 126). I think i just needed the initial help losing the few pounds I needed to. I don’t need to eat as little to maintain, though. I am a 30 mile-a-week runner, for what it’s worth.

at 134 lbs you dont sound overweight--were you techincally? I thought you had to be a minimum bmi to qualify?

It's like with anything people do to lose weight - it's a tool to use to help you while you learn better habits. You learn how to control your portions, how much you really need to eat vs eating out of boredom/stress/etc.

But you "can" control them because you are taking speed that makes you not hungry. When you stop taking speed you will be hungry again like you were before ~ what will be different? Its not like "anything",.......exercise and diet works.

I lost almost 60 lbs on Qsymia. I stopped taking it when I lost about 45 lbs. I wasn't on the highest dose because I never wanted that to be such a crutch that I couldn't do without. I always thought of it as "the kick in the pants" to get me started.

1) No, the appetite did not return the same was as it was when I was 200 lbs. After months of eating less your body gets used to it. Your stomach shrinks.
2) Speed gives you a lot more energy, AT FIRST. For maybe the first two months I felt like I was like the energizer bunny. But then, you get used to it and it's not like that any more.
3) You never feel like you are not hungry on those pills. I felt hungry if I didn't eat. But it allowed me to choose a salad instead of a burger. The hunger is manageable instead of ravishing if that makes sense.
4) It gets you started with healthy eating habits and the energy gets you off the couch hopefully.

You may think all of that is achievable without the pills and you are right. But for so many of us, it would not and it did not happen until we got some help. I obviously don't regret it one bit.

My BP is lower, my blood work is now normal. I am in better shape than I was 15 years ago.

My doctor (not in the area and not Dr. Anchors) didn’t have an issue with it so I trusted her opinion. I didn’t have any issues, feel great, and am so happy I did this despite initially being a doubter!

Does BeLite have a BMI cut off / requirement? Either location (I think there is one in Bethesda and one in Falls Church).

Thanks!

I’ve been on and off phenpro for years. My weight yo-yos and it sucks. I’m interested to try qysmia. My doctor says I don’t eat enough and what I do eat is not helping me lose weight. Apparently yogurts and lean cuisines are not going to make you skinny . I’m not a good eater and I really need a good doctor to help me jump start a healthy path. Doctor anchors wasn’t it for me. I want to try someone new and this other drug. Anyone recommend someone?

Dr anchors dieting advice is fine but for me I need more then just “eat on dark plates”. Who prescribes qysmia or does anyone have a doctor that actually assists in losing weight and is helpful?

I’m 5’8 and they asked if I weighed more than 155 when I called to make an appointment.

Anyone keep taking Phenpro long term? I'm hypothyroid and find that it dramatically helps with the fatigue... Wondering if Dr Anchors will keep prescribing after I've reached a normal weight.

I'm another one for whom Dr. Anchors and PhenPro didn't work. I just started working with the GW weight loss program run by Dr. Hynes. I'm only 1 appt. in so can't speak to effectiveness yet, but I liked what she had to say.

Great thread! I am Just looking into this and it seems like the latest posts did not have much progress with dr A. Is there anyone who started in past few months with good results?

Yes, I started in April at 330 lbs, lost 20 lbs by late June. Stopped taking it for surgery. Gained weight, but that was due to sitting in bed immobile for 3 weeks after surgery! Back up to 313.

Started again in August. Got down to 294 by mid November. Currently still on it, and at 289.

Weight loss is slow especially for someone of my size. Other docs say that someone my size could lose 5# a week for a few months. I have recently started exercising more, so that is helping. But its nice to be under 300 for the first time in 4 yrs.

Tell me more about the weight loss clinic at GW... what does the diet entail and how often do you see the doctors? Any meal replacement shakes or just good old portion control and low carb? Please share and good luck on your weight loss journey!
