Watching this now on MSNBC. That's what he said in case people wanted a confirmation
|
| How will this affect defense contractors, if at all? DH is due to start a new job with a defense contractor in 2 weeks. |
| Boom goes the dc real estate mkt |
| Well pp, effects may not be immediate, but when the feds cut...they often also cut gov't contracts. Last in/first out. |
We've had several hiring freezes and the sequestration. Hasn't tanked the real estate market yet. |
| Does this affect the financial regulators? |
It will probably be easier to get a contractor job now, as hiring freezes force agencies to resort to contractors (more expensive) to get the work done. A hiring freeze to "save taxpayer money" is a fool's errand; it actually costs money and results in lower productivity. Agencies are already struggling as it is after department level hiring freezes, sequestration, and budget cuts. |
Why wouldn't it? (I'm in one of those agencies.) |
Some of them, yes. Many are "self funded" though. Or have some kind of "independence" rule that Trump would need to break through legislatively first. |
| The Obama pay raise...will that be cut after this next pay check?? |
| I'm up for a step increase next month. Is that off the table now? |
While that is true, I think most will still enact the hiring freeze. Why stick their necks out? It will make them a target. |
No, it's already posted on OPM. It had already been enacted. |
Then you should know the answer. The financial regulators are self funded. |
They may curtain hiring. But they won't exactly follow the freeze. It truly depends on what the agency is tasked with implementing. A hiring freeze will happen by default if Trump rolls back regulations since there will be less work to do. |
