Lochte Robbery Story: True or False

That said, his skills in life are his looks and his swimming prowess. Not his mental acuity.

Also, his mom--who seems like a VERY loving woman based on what I saw on the short-lived reality show Ryan starred in after London--is a sweet woman, but not the brightest bulb on the tree.

Poor woman was worried about her son after he told her that he was robbed. That's all. So she did what every good mother does...tells the news.

Lochte's attorney says he is already back in the US and has no plans to return for follow up questioning.

Do you think the account was made up? I can't figure out a motive, and think it's odd that FOUR individuals would be in on a false account. At the same time it seems quite coincidental that out of all of the athletes, this happened to Lochte.

Never crossed my mind that it would a be fake story because anyone with 1/4 brain would know that Rio is a very dangerous city. For Christ's sake- they warned Olympians about taking precautions if they were going to be swimming in the ocean. I also understand that there is video of the situation, haven't seen it so can't confirm.

Sometimes he gives interviews. And I religiously watched his reality show.

(Maybe she wanted to make sure he was in bed and at the village) rules were I believe not to leave the village or something about not leaving in a cab. She calls, he doesn't answer.. She figures something is up and to get out of it he says oh we were out late because we got robbed! Etc... She worries tells the media and bam! Story gets leaked and Ryan has to cover his ass and act like it really happened.

What the hell would Ryan Lochte's Mom have to with anything? Do you realize that he is a 32 year old man that has earned millions in endorsements fro Speedo, gatorade, etc? Your ridiculous story makes it sound like he is a teenager who got in trouble on a school field trip. Jesus. There is literally no reason for these to pretend that they got robbed.

His mother is the person who told the media ... That is how this all started.

Why did he tell his mother he was robbed though? That is part one of this whole ordeal.

They are tight. She's been interviewed before many times, I think I saw her on the Today Show late last week. That doesn't seem abnormal to me at all, given their relationship.

Really? You wouldn't tell your mother if she called you that you happened to be robbed? Telling your mom you were robbed isn't like telling her you have an STD.

Perhaps because the robbery actually happened?

I would tell anyone willing to listen if I were robbed at gunpoint. Why would you find this strange PP?

Bingo.

I kind of feel like he made up a lie to get out of trouble with his mom -- like a 15 year old kid. Could it be possible that he bought some drugs? Would they test for anything after his races were over?

Scenario -
RL calls his mom and asks for more money. She asks what happened to the money she gave him yesterday. He makes up a story about being robbed, even though it went up his nose?

He gets the other guys to corroborate since they were all using and don't want to get caught or stripped of medals.

Ryan Lochte is a 32 year old millionaire. Do you really think he is calling his mom for cash?

Not all millionaires have instant access to their cash. Especially if they are incompetent little shits. Plus most Olympians are not millionaires.

He had a reality show and also has his own shoe line. Add in his endorsements, he's not hurting for cash.

I believe them and to me, the lack of details sounds exactly like any sober person telling a story from when they were drunk. I mean, the Olympics were already a giant shitshow, so why make this up? I think probably the only thing they may be covering up is that they were drinking because I think that's one of the main no-no's during the Olympics. Didn't one guy get sent home for that already? I forget where he was from.

I was thinking he was coming home from a gay nightclub when I heard the story.

While all of you are speculating, I'll provide you with one absolute fact. (I work in the entertainment industry and this has been verified and is causing some problems in the Lochte camp) It was *NOT* his mother who first leaked the story to the media. It was also *NOT* Lochte himself. The FIRST tip to media about the situation came from Ryan's "girlfriend," Kayla Ray Reid. While deleted now, a DailyMail reporter had reached out to her on Instagram when she first arrived in Rio re: paying her for info on Lochte while there. Kayla, in order to receive more $$$, first told the DailyMail about what happened. DailyMail reached out to Lochte's mom and she confirmed KRR's story, and that's when she started sharing with other media contacts. But she wasn't the source of the original leak!

We are family friends with one of the swimmers that he was with that night. We've talked to them and this did happen, people. Stop looking for conspiracy theories where there is none. What is wrong with some of you people? Are just tremendously unhappy and looking for fault where there is none?
