I really wish Fran's character would simply be called, "Frank". Everytime someone says 'Fran,' I think they're talking about a girl. Hate it. |
I like that he's called Fran. He so isn't a "Frank" though. I think the "character" of Hannah is appealing but I do think Lena Durham's body is getting worse with age. Regardless of what all the body fascists around think, its just not good for her long term health. |
I don't care what Lena Dunham's body looks like or how much she weighs. I just get incredibly sick of her need to take off her clothes in every single episode. Since she writes/directs, etc., she has final say in how often she's nude and/or in a sex scene, so obviously she deliberately writes those scenes in that way. It's bizarre this need she has for full-on exhibitionism. |
Yes they are deliberate. Sometimes they are funny, sometimes awful, sometimes shocking. I guess that's the whole point. |
+1 Exactly! |
| I'm surprised that no one is talking about Sunday's episode. I found it so moving! I've never liked or felt bad for marnie but I found myself feeling bad for her. What a complete let down after what was a pretty magical and intense night. I wonder now if she will wind up hiv positive? It made me think about choices and how one moment can ruin your life forever. Not to be naive. Also made me think about money and how it can also just ruin you. I have a friend that struck gold in New York with an app and also fell into drugs and the partying lifestyle. So I guess it hit home a little. |
Except its been done before. Sex and the City. It may happen once or twice with a late night hook-up where hot/average guy hooks up with ugly girl, but they never actually date. |
I didn't feel bad for her, but my heart definitely broke for Charlie. |
But always disgusting. |
I didn't feel particularly bad for Marnie - after all, she's still the same self-absorbed girl. The scene in the dress shop was priceless, when she was blabbing on about herself and the poor clerk immediately knew what she was dealing with. I couldn't understand how Marnie was so comfortable with Charlie being a drug dealer. She seemed to have zero problems with it. I am SO GLAD she gave Desi the heave-ho. What a whiny, insecure, needy, incredibly unattractive loser. Her face said it all when she looked at him with disgust as he was blubbering (again) on the stairs. Ugh. |
It was a great episode. Made me miss my youth and the random way a day can take you anywhere with anyone at that age. |
Lena Dunham said it was Charlie getting rid of the vulnerability that he had always been teased for and becoming someone "harder." That was an interesting perspective on his character and my heart broke for him too. Glad Marne is seeing a way out of these bad decisions and now has the guts to be on her own. |

Thought Sunday's night episode was quite moving, Charlie's story in particular. I also loved the ending scene, when Marnie crawls into bed with hannah -- what a lovely portrait of friendship, and the feelings of love and safety it can bring.
Girls has been hitting it out the park this season. |
I think we saw her growing up, though. She starts babbling about herself, saying she's "25 & 1/2" and apparently learns something from the clerk's reaction. She turns around and has the same reaction to the young blond "25 & 1/2" year old girlfriend of the rich guy a little later. I think it was an ah-ha evening for her. |
Had the complete opposite effect on me. So thankful to be married and settled down and of a certain age. |
