Jennifer Lawrence and her arrogant attack on a reporter after last nights Golden globes

It sounds like the reporter may have been being less than respectful to her and the fact that she was the one who had won an award that night. It sounds like he may have been being rude and disruptive for whatever reason and she put an end to it with some deadpan humor...

I saw it differently. She called out a reporter for being on his phone too much. I would love to tell people to put their phones down and be in the present. Did anyone else see it this way? Just curious.

I find it hilarious how the public turns on you. One minute you are America's darling and can do no wrong. After they get used to you they look for reasons to say "I dont like you anymore."

That was a non-event. Lady Gaga brushed up against him and his back was turned, so he didn't know where it was coming from. He was just surprised. No grand conspiracy here.

If Liam Helmsworth or The Rock had gently corrected a dude with humor in this way over rudely using his phone during an interview to take pics, it would not be a news story. But a pretty lady with bright lipstick does it WTFOMGBBQ?! Total double standard.

She smiled (a bit) when she did it and made a joke about it, then followed up with another joke, then patiently answered his question. If a bro did that it would be called Wednesday.

So true. We expect women to be "nice" at all times. And anything not overly-sweet is just not nice enough for us.

Like, actually, shouldn't we be applauding her for stepping up and getting the dude to treat her with some respect and dignity in whatever humorous way worked for her instead of just sucking it up and taking his bad behavior without saying anything?

Women shouldn't be socialized to suck it up and take it anymore, and all the "old ladies" like me on this board need to get used to a new generation who stand up for themselves instead. Good for her. I hope my daughter doesn't sit back and take behavior like that reporter's as though that's what she deserves and it's her place to absorb it. Eff that.

She didn't appreciate what he was doing and she said something about it in a way that the reporter himself laughed at. Then she answered his question. The fact that people are upset over a woman doing this in 2016 is more of a story to me than the actual news story.

Eek, I hope my daughter doesn't resort to being condescending and rude to stick up for herself.

I agree. If he had been an American born reporter, perhaps people would see it differently. He was being rude and she called him out on it. Now just because English is not his first language, everyone is butthurt cause she is not being PC enough. The PC epidemic in this country is going to be the end of freedom of speech as we know it.

Supposedly it wasn't and accident. He was laughing loudly that she won so she bumped him on purpose. He apparently had been talking throughout the night that he couldn't believe she was nominated.

It was not bullying. And if he really was making fun of her and she hip checked him, good for her.

Oh ho ho. Where have you been living? If Lawrence had quietly but seriously asked him to put his phone away, she would be getting the same blowback except people would be calling her a humorless bitch or c_nt.

How much of this anger is really just delayed misogyny over her OP ed speaking in favor of equal pay several weeks ago? When our female role models get too feisty, it's time to burn them.

Yes, exactly pp. The guy was being rude and she called him out. Now people are turning on her.

Anonymous wrote:Yeah, calling women c_nts is really high class behavior. Did she step out of line? Value her time too highly for you? Is she one of those uppity women like your boss at work? Wouldn't you really just prefer it if she'd put on a pretty dress and make you a sandwich?

That's his excuse. I saw the look he gave. That was not a look of surprise that he gave. He was making a statement.
