That was a non-event. Lady Gaga brushed up against him and his back was turned, so he didn't know where it was coming from. He was just surprised. No grand conspiracy here.

Supposedly it wasn't and accident. He was laughing loudly that she won so she bumped him on purpose. He apparently had been talking throughout the night that he couldn't believe she was nominated.

It was not bullying. And if he really was making fun of her and she hip checked him, good for her.

It was total bullying on his part. It sounds like he had a bug up his arse that she dared to even get nominated and then when her name was called he proceeded to be a complete a-hole about by "laughing" loudly and when she hip checked him (hey, buddy enough!) he gave that nasty freak out look.

He's a jerk. And I really hope that if Leo is ever nominated again he has to go up against... Justin Bieber or Blake Shelton or some other random dude...and they beat him out. Leo doesn't deserve to win again.

Sigh. Being a dick is not the same as bullying. Look up the definition. Bullying is a repeated action.

Evidently he had been doing this throughout the evening - making it CLEAR that he was not happy that she had been nominated. If someone did that to you repeatedly throughout an evening (making nasty comments, laughing AT you for winning and then giving an eye roll of pure disgust as you walked by...I'll bet you wouldn't appreciate it).

Here I am standing up for Gaga and I can't really stand her! But wrong is wrong Leo.

I find this all very hard to believe. Being surprised or shocked at her being nominated is one thing, but giving a shit to this degree just doesn't add up. In the acting arena, he and Gaga are not even in the same swim lane. There is no plausible reason for him to care that much about it. I think between this and the JLaw incident that spurred this thread my takeaway is that people really love to read into shit too much. Worry about yourselves already

[b]And the obvious question is then why exactly are YOU here?

Voyerism; the world' greatest guilty pleasure.

This thread is so sexist. As others have said, if Robert Downey Jr. or The Rock had made the same irreverent comment, he would just be a guy protecting his time or making a dry joke. When a man corrects someone like this, it's nbd because we're used to seeing men with authority. But when a woman corrects a man and isn't sufficiently ingratiating, out come the TONE POLICE to call her a total bitch or a c*nt or just say she was totally rude. Whereas again if a man did it the same person would not even notice.

Wake up ladies. Stop penalizing women for doing something that you'd think was totally normal if someone with a cock did it. Except, like, peeing standing up etc.

Humbled?

This is her sixth awards season. She has three Golden Globes and an Oscar. She has two other Oscar nominations. She has two major franchises in addition. She has earned her star status. If Robert Downey did this, everyone would laugh.

YES humbled. She is getting paid an obscene amount of money for the cushy job of acting. Give the poor foreign reporter a break for Pete's sake.

When something extraordinary happens to me it (not often but like recently getting a huge promotion at work) makes me want to be kinder, sweeter and more empathetic to others. She obviously thought she was above the guy and let the room know it. Yuck. Maybe she was trying to pull "an Amy" and be funny but it was not funny, it was obnoxious.

1) You've obviously never been on a set. Acting is hard work and it takes talent.

2) She is above that guy. She is the star. He is a reporter. He is asking for HER time. He needs to be polite to HER. If your CEO correct you, she'd be within her rights. If you are rude to your CEO, you're going to be looking for a job.

Maybe she should leave her jokes to people who are actually funny

Oh please. She was nasty. Look at the comments on Leo's behavior to Gaga. Not every criticism toward a woman is sexist.

Uh no. Plenty of men get themselves into trouble for acting like assholes. Most recently Leonardo D. Remember Lemon, the news guy who asked women raped by Cosby why they didn't bite his penis or something like that? I am female and it really sets back feminism when people throw around "sexist" without thinking. Save it for actual sexism.

This sounds like something Amy Schumer would say because apparently feminism is about embracing bitchiness and talking about our vaginas and conquests while drunk. (For the record I find both men and women talking about conquests to be equally obnoxious). We need to go back to having bright, well-educated and articulate women teach us what feminism is about.

I watched the clip and thought it was funny! This didn't change my opinion on Jennifer Lawrence at all. I still think she is human and very good actress!

I have no idea about that question that reporter asked. But in this case, Jennifer Lawrence is being jumped on for making a dry joke that no one would think twice of someone like...Leonardo Dicaprio (or any other well liked actor) had made it instead. People would have "gotten it" if Leo had said it. But Jennifer says it and she's not being a nice girl, she's being mean, she's being a b*tch.... It's subtle but it is absolutely there.

It sounds like the question the male reporter asked the Cosby victims is probably a question that some people, like Oprah, could have asked quite easily. Others not so much.

Yep. She sticks up for Planned Parenthood, too, and for equal pay. No wonder people think she's a bitch.

Nobody ever requires men to "handle things with grace and class," as certain people in this thread have said Lawrence should have done here.

I wrote that comment. I also went to Yale, graduated cum laude with a degree in English, and am now a lawyer. I am a bright, well-educated and articulate woman, and I would be happy to teach you more about feminism because it looks like you could stand to learn more about it.

But I'm guessing that last sentence was too assertive and unapologetic for you so you probably don't want to listen to someone like me.

Jennifer was not being crass at all. She wasn't being a gutter mouth. But she was gently using some dry humor to demand the respect that she is due. She stood up for herself. Good for her.
