I embrace the term White Trash because one of my parents grew up on a farm in the south and the other grew up urban but dirt poor. I feel like white trash compared to the nouveau riche in my neighborhood but like an eastcoast intellectual elite compared to the actual poor.

I am 13:42. I am white, and have none of the qualities some PPs are calling "white trash". I do speak out about matters that are not directed at me but that I think are wrong. It utterly baffles me that some of you PPs can't comprehend why the phrase isn't racist (not to mention classist).

Note that I did not object to OP wanting to whine about what she perceives as trashy - whatever, knock yourself out. But whenever you use the qualifier "white" to distinguish THIS PARTICULAR TRASH from, you know, the USUAL trash (i.e., non-white), you are actively engaging in racism.
