This just makes you Trash. Not to mention ignorant of other cultural practices. |
Well, the drawing attention to the race of the trash (e.g. white) is your first clue. And, the sweeping generalizations is a second. |
| is it racist AGAINST white people because they are the ones being criticized, or is it racist against everyone else because the word "white" is in front of the word "trash"? honestly confused ... |
Insult to whites, racist against blacks. Because it assumes we know that all blacks are trash. No need to qualify by saying "black" trash. That's redundant. Blacks are per se trashy. Whites, however, aren't always trash. And in fact we assume they are superior unless told otherwise. Saying "white trash" makes sure our listeners understand these particular white people are slumming like blacks. Does that help? |

Hiding behind their country club membership...get to know them and you will learn the truth. Is this racist??? |

The Southern rural hierarchy (not sure what it's like in the Midwest/Mountain West, I understand in some parts of the West, Native Americans fill the social role of Blacks)
White trash (or the N-word, other Blacks would just use words like "worthless") Redneck (not sure what the Black equivalent would be here) Good old boy (high yaller, this class was smaller as a percentage of Blacks as the good old boys were a percentage of Whites) To be white trash, it requires criminal and/or multiple moral failings (e.g. three kids by three different dads, sponging off the government/church/relatives, etc.) Dropping out of high school also helps (come on, who's seen wedding announcements where it says "the bride/groom attended such-and-such High School"? I have.) Good old boys have some combination of money, college educations, family/professional connections, etc. Sure white trash is pejorative. Maybe "white anti-society people" would be a better description. There's non-society where you don't care or react to what everyone else thinks but don't pose a burden on others, and anti-society where your behavior active and continually poses a burden on others. The failing of this system is that it's hard for someone to redeem themselves except by moving away. My family was on the border between redneck and good old boy in the rural food chain, probably closer to good old boy. Positives: Family lived in the area for 150+ years and had a large farm. Interested in community/world affairs. Aunts/uncles high up in the business food chain. Negatives: No college education. Not wealthy enough to be a true good old boy (I guess we were about median for the area in HHI.) |
| C'mon y'all all white people in America are WT. Descendants of arrogant heathens who stole and cheated the original owners and overseers out of their rights and property. And those who came after lived similarly in their Caucasian homelands and inherited all of the subtle privileges created by their bretheren whitey criminal forefathers. |
| White trash is not "not black" trash. The term white trash exists because at least at one time, a sub-group of whites were been given opportunities to get ahead but still didn't. That is totally different from starting out in slavery and then graduating to oppression. That is a distinction that is not racist against blacks (or anyone else not white). It is a negative term about this one group of people given their status in society. And in case you haven't noticed, white trash has quite a following. Note Elvis Presley and W, the popularity of Nascar racing and the World Wrestling Federation. |
| trash=tatoo on a women, especially the tramp stamp on the back. I don't care what color you are, it is trashy |
