Delay again 1/22 Wednesday?

It will be 10 degrees at 8am and 14 degrees at 10am. Doesn't make a difference to the ice.

The notice on cancellation of activities was crazy. Ours cancelled everything, not just starting at 530, with less than an hours notice.

Super crazy. So you’ll send kids home on buses at 3pm without contacting parents, and kids will be freezing outside houses where no one was expecting them.

Ours actually don't go on the bus so someone's got to get to school pronto to pick them up (early ES walkers). The bus would have provided some buffer time

Also no emails or texts except KAH just now. Every time I want to quit dcum I have moments like this where I feel I need to stay.

Do you think you won't get one? It's not even 3pm the day before.

The buses are having a hard time starting in the icy cold weather. No one is going to the lots early to start them earlier. They must work their contract hours. The sidewalks that children walk on are icy. Grades are not suffering when they tack on more days at the end of the year. This is truly not a big deal.

MCPS should be applauded! Way to announce ahead of time to give people the resources to work around their schedule.

If you’re HS kid can’t figure out a ride home you have bigger issues to worry about.

Yeah, I usually get notified half a dozen different ways to, but this time the only way I knew was because my HS kid texted me. No texts, emails, Remind, nothing for either MCPS or the school.

I wouldn’t have seen the announcement on the website if kid hadn’t called. Hopefully elementary and middle schools were better about notifying families.

It's on the website.

Suck it, unbelievers!

(I’m just kidding, I understand why they were skepticism.)

OMG can you all wait until COB before complaining that you didn't get a text? Then you'll get your dozen texts and complain about that!

Nothing here yet and our middle school doesn’t let them use their phones this year.

I literally just got the message from MCPS about no activities. If I was at the office I would not be able to make it in time for pick up (my child is a walker). Our school is great and I could have asked them to hold my kids in the office but seriously people need more notice than this.

It's the f**** pandemic. We don't need to keep schools open anymore. Just close or delay whenever. No rhyme or reason. Can they set some actual criteria to make these decisions? Have family in upstate NY and they close when it's negative 20. Otherwise, no closing for it being cold.

+1. Completely ridiculous. I had hope for Taylor but I guess I was naïve.
