My dad was in Vietnam with a unit from Texas, and he hated them until the day he died. In his stories, they were responsible for many deaths of fellow soldiers because they were so incompetent. And, as a southern white guy who was racist, he said the Hispanic members of the unit were the only ones he could trust. I think we would be fine without Texas.

Take all federal money, blow up the military bases, and help anyone who wants to leave. I don't really think Texans realize that their SS and Medicare payments will stop too, but you may not want to tell them.

I think the key question here is "what constitutes a city?" Here's a list of the party affiliation of the 100 largest cities in the US:

To find the first red city in a blue state you have to go all the way down to Fresno, CA at #33. So while there are certainly some they're not what we typically think of as major urban centers.

How exactly would that happen in your fantasy world? Your red state militia would have to storm military bases in each state to secure weapons. Look at Gaza the blue states would be Israel and the red states would be Hamas only armed with civilian weapons. You would not stand a chance. Have fun trying to stop cruise missiles.

Any state that broke away would quickly break up in to a bunch of independent states. They would just fight amongst themselves for years.
