The hearty group of people asking if they would still receive social security and ACA benefits?

Ok.

Social security isn’t welfare. Recipients pay for it when they work. The government doesn’t invest the contributions and pays back in devalued dollars. ACA sucks.

Rs have always wanted to gut "social welfare", including social security.

The ACA is better than not having insurance. Just ask the millions of people, many in red states who got insurance for the first time in their lives.

Also, they'd lose their medicare. LOL

The new nation of Texas would have no military, but would have a lot of localized wealth, which means that many terrorist groups and private armies from South and Central America would likely come to plunder the unguarded suburbia. If they were lucky, Mexico would just annex them and they would get the protection of a true sovereign nation.

I would never stop laughing if, after all their bluster, Texas ended up back as part of Mexico again. And if DC was awarded statehood to maintain the number of states.

Now, there's an idea.

Let’s see what kind of military you can raise without all the Texans. You gonna replace them with blue-haired kids from Vermont?

You know the soldiers on those bases in Texas are not all from Texas, and the bases don't belong to Texas, so you'll be losing all of that.

Who are you people rooting for a civil war or a division of our union?
Are you Americans?

But Texas does have the largest veteran population. If they leave the U.S, they lose their U.S. veterans benefits too.

Apparently they are Texans. And red staters, who want "civil war" and we are pointing out that they don't really know what they are talking about.

They aren't rooting for it, they are mocking the idea as it clearly was not well thought through from the Texan perspective.

I’m an American. A REAL American. And I want Texas and all the other red states tossed out of the United States. I don’t want red states to be part of our country. I want them GONE. If it takes a civil war to do that, so be it. We have lots of new Americans that have come here in the last three years seeking a better life. A lot of them are young males suitable for military service, so let them join the army and fight the red states. They can earn their citizenship with their service.

I am a grateful recipient of the ACA. This is a whole new concept, and the facts disprove you, PP. There are more new adherents than ever before. Users do not want it gone, contrary to what right-wing politicians think or say.

Texas can leave, of course. Good riddance.

Although Texas with its own power grid is best positioned to secede, no single state would ever do so for a variety of logistical reasons. What should be concerning is the support Texas is receiving from other states. 25 so far. Only need 34 states to call for a Constitutional Convention. That is where things could get interesting.

Those people who have come here are not new AMERICANS at all. They are from countries all over the world.... they are not Americans.
And, you don't seem to have an issue with the fact that a good number of them are of military age... including the ones coming from China and Russia and other countries not exactly friendly to the US. In fact, you seem to believe that to be a good thing. How naive can you be?
And, I seriously wonder if you are truly an American. I don't think you realize that "red states" have blue cities just like "blue states" have red cities.
Just wondering how this "tossing out of red states" will go. What will it look like? Who will do the tossing?

Name one blue state with a red city. There are no red cities. Think about that.

Do you really think the wealthier states would not agree to moving on from the current model? The huge over representation of rural states? The wealthier populated states are tired of being held back and paying for those 25 states. They are tired of being held hostage by a minority of the population. The current system works overwhelmingly in the favor of those 25 states. They would be crazy to change it because there is no way they would get anything close to what they have now.

Now let’s talk about a state like Wyoming the most conservative state by voting. It’s a 70/30% split rep/dem and that amounts to roughly 120k voters. Texas is 52/47 split and that delta is about 600k voters. That 600k is more vs the total population of Wyoming. How much power would Wyoming have in the new republic with Texas. Everyone of those 25 states will have major problem with other breakaway states.

Also do you really think the TEXIT people are going to subject themselves to another state or vice versa?

Following Texas where? You're not making sense.
Forming a new union.

All the outlaw states know how dysfunctional the other outlaw states are. They want nothing to do with each other. Each state will want to keep managing its own grift, which they get to do now in the U.S. with very little real responsibility. These are people who can barely elect a House Speaker. You think they would establish a viable government?
