It’s good to have choices.

The hearty group of people asking if they would still receive social security and ACA benefits?

Ok.

So you mean all the red taker states would leave? Man, can you imagine how awesome that would be for the blue states that have been subsidizing them for the past 70 years?

Social security isn’t welfare. Recipients pay for it when they work. The government doesn’t invest the contributions and pays back in devalued dollars. ACA sucks.

The takers of all states would immigrate to the blue country. Producers would move to red

Not going to happen without a civil war. There is no Constitutional provision for secession.

+1
We'd have to build a wall so that we don't get overwhelmed by poor Texans looking for a handout. Economic migrants.

No surprise that you don’t know how social security actually works

Nah. It wiuld just happen. People will do anything to avoid suffering including killing babies, even Oprah would have slaves if she had to farm with no fossil fuels or machinery. People will do anything for comfort in this age.

Sure. No social security, medicare, FDIC, farm subsidies, federal highway program, federal prison system, CBP, Homeland security, military, access to US weapons, access to the US market, OSHA, unions, worker rights, SEC, etc. All companies with HQ in Texas or other states would be considered foreign companies and taxed according. Oil and gas producers would lose subsidies. Texas gets anywhere from 25-50% of it state budget from the federal government. No NFL or college football.

About 1/2 the state’s population would leave the state. It would be a very hard time in Texas. Texas would also reinstate slavery.

It’s also just not going to happen, period. Despite their cowboy beliefs about their independence, Texas would not be able to function without being a part of the United States. First of all they’d have to pay back a metric ton of subsidies. Second of all, they are the libertarian house cats. Third, can you imagine those poor dullards having to be treated like the foreigners they would suddenly be? Waiting for passport stamps, no longer getting the benefits of being American… they’ll never do it. It’s an idea they like to float every election year, though honestly I’m not sure why. Who is it supposed to excite?

Man they would have to jack up those taxes. Wonder what the lines to enter the US would look like on the Texas Oklahoma border. Lol

Doesn’t Texas have a part-time legislature?
