What country would you look to as a better example? |
Another death that didn't have to happen brought on by specific policy choices that city leadership chose and pursued. |
| This is a culture problem. Our kids grow up singing along to violent songs and watch violent movies and then when they have no hope for a future they decide to roll the dice and act out the movies and lyrics that they are surrounded by. |
You're alleging that this person wouldn't have shot anyone if the city hadn't hired them as a violence interrupter? Based on what evidence? Seems even more unbelievable considering he wasn't even employed as a violence interrupter at the time of the shooting. |
There is no indication it is spent effectively and that the programs have appropriate oversight. |
Not PP, but I think you're misconstruing what that PP wrote. I think it's reasonable to argue that it's misguided for city leadership to pursue violence interrupter programs, as opposed to other programs that might actually help these violent people. So, yes, if this guy had actually been helped to get a real job, as opposed to a fake violence interrupter job, maybe he wouldn't have continued his violent ways. |
Excuse me, but there is absolutely ZERO evidence or proof that this shooting was NOT perpetrated with a “legally owned” gun. For all we know it was committed by someone who purchased it legally, just as you presumably purchased yours legally. This shooting was done by someone exactly like YOU, in other words. They were allowed to buy a gun, filled out all the documents or whatever, had a background check done on them - and then still went out and massacred 4 people. With their legal gun. Just like you could do this afternoon, if you’re having a bad day and something pushes you over the edge. YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. |
If having one bad day is all it takes, then people shouldn't be allowed to own cars. |
A parent problem. |
The shooter was not the violence interrupter. Read the discovery if you want to know facts. He's still guilty for being an accomplice. |
So then this murder had literally zero connection to the violence interrupter program? So then why exactly did "specific policy choices" cause this death to happen? |
Cars aren’t designed to kill people, dumbass.
But you’ll get no argument from me. Private citizens shouldn’t be allowed to own cars anyway. They’re killing the planet with pollution and the endless pavement sprawl that comes from giving people the means and opportunity to live far-removed from work, public transit, bike or walkability options. You don’t need to live in McLean and have a job on K st, made possible because you can commute in a car. Get rid of cars and people will make better choices about where they live. You sound like a typical dumbass gun nutter trumper. |
Anyone smart would take the bet it is not a legal gun. PP want to put 10K on it? Starting to think carrying an illegal piece is a requirement for our violence interrupters. |
And you sound like a typical overeducated liberal who can't stand the idea of allowing people to follow a set of rules and make decisions without your oversight. You seem afraid that people won't follow the existing laws, so you need more laws. If you think having a bad day is an excuse to "go wild," I am going to suggest that you are the one who isn't emotionally mature enough for existence in a civilized society, let alone gun ownership. |
Shouldn't you be studying for your Marxism final? And I say this as someone who can't stand Trump or MAGA-land. |
