Just noticed the top flagships (besides in Ca) are all in red/purple states rather than blue ones

It will take a while, as sea change doesn’t happen overnight, but in the future schools in red states will dominate over blue states in STEM. Lol. Conservatives don’t care about STEM or science.

Yes they do. They care about real science. They don’t care about junk science like global warming.

If the schools are good, then who cares about the politics of the state? Honestly, too many are too loud about politics. Go to the school that is the best fit for you and love your life!

All of this political hand-wringing is ruining our nation.

Junk Science. Nice.

I guess all of those freakish winter tornadoes this year were just totally normal, right?

if the schools are great and GOP politicians decide to cut education funding for said schools, that impacts the quality of teaching and other resources for said school, not?
If the schools are great, but a co-ed can be thrown in jail for having a miscarriage, that seems problematic, no?

It’s been pointed out more than once that the schools at issue are all very well-funded and many in-state students attend for free. At this stage of the economy, legislators of any state could propose a bill to reduce spending for higher education. So when you go to any public school, you take that chance.
And if your kid has a miscarriage, it’s a miscarriage. Nobody is going to jail for a miscarriage. But, if that’s all that matters to you, then you won’t send your kid to one of these annointed “good” schools and you’ll be happy paying full-boat at a private in a blue state that will allow for your kid to get as many abortions as she wants.

Actually, the majority of conservatives do believe in global warming...they disagree on its causes and/or its longevity. There is not one reputable scientist of any party that has the conclusion that the earth is not warmer and sea levels are not higher today vs. 20 years ago or the average over the last century. There is significant disagreement as to why this is happening (is it burning fossil fuels or is the earth going through another warming cycle??).

Evolution is a different matter...or believing the earth is only 6,000 years old and dinosaurs never existed...or thinking Ivermectin will cure Covid...

dp.. nobody thinks they need an abortion...until they do.

And the miscarriage can result in the need for a D&C. Have you been living under a rock to not have read the news stories about women having a miscarriage needing an abortion but being turned away for fear the hospital will be sued? A few TX moms are suing TX over it. Read up on the news.

As if Democrat-loving teachers unions care about your children’s education. They don’t. They care about what’s best for teachers’ pocketbooks. Don’t get me started. Chances are that you liberals who love teachers’ unions are also the ones who hate police unions. Public employees’ unions are the same. They protect rotten tomatoes in their ranks and they don’t care about the public.

The chances of blue state legislators reducing funding for higher education, particularly economic engines like state flagships is minimal.

As to the bolded, you are not paying attention to red state legislation, particularly in states like Missouri, Ohio, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and Tennessee.

Red state legislators and governors are legislating what teachers can say and the content of books and assert say they are defending free speech. They say they are limiting speech to “protect children” but refuse to even consider common sense rules to limit the types of guns that are for sale or the rules under which they can be sold to “protect children” is political doublespeak and despicable. It is insanity. No, I would never send my child to college in FL.

You just assume that college girls just fool around and get pregnant (without marriage), correct? Even those who do fool around, there are condoms and contraception.
