House of the Dragon - Game of Thrones spinoff (SPOILERS)

I’m glad to be done with the crabs eating everyone.

The spoiler had crossed my mind but I didn’t think it would happen. Looking forward to it.

(1) I thought white walkers were defeated after Dany died. There was not a Targaryen on the throne. Plot issue?

(2) Perhaps the Jon Snow sequel show will come out and one day put Jon Snow on the throne. Maybe the white walkers aren't gone forever and there will be a final showdown? I was hoping that GoT would end with a white walker baby opening a cold blue eye ...

1) Jon Snow born Aegon Targeryan

They are talking about Dany’s father, King Aerys.

The crab thing was just stupid. Why even have that? What was wrong with him? Why were those other pirates even following him? Why would a bunch of pirates follow a weird slimy mutant looking crab guy and fight a two year battle against a guy with a dragon? Why did it take two years to burn the pirates? It just seems like there was never any backstory for who the crab guy was even supposed to be.

The show is so boring and i am disappointed with myself because I keep watching anyways.

It’s 10x better than most of what is on tv now.

I think it's a different pace than Game of Thrones, but I don't find it boring. I do agree the war with the crab guy was a plot weakness. Unlike Game of Thrones where it was clearly explained why something had strategic importance it was kind of mentioned that the Stepstones were key to the shipping lanes for Corlys(?) ships. The guy that is married to the Queen that Never Was. It was an important plot point that was kind of buried with all the drama of the first episode.

I am trying not to spoiler myself. I am re-watching Game of Thrones and there's a scene where Joffrey recounts what historically happened to Rhaenyra, so we'll see if that's what pans out.

It’s definitely going to pan out. It’s book and show canon.

I just watched the second episode. Better than the first even if it was a little slow. It really set out some major history and statecraft stuff, which I like.

Rhaenyra is a great character. I'm still not crazy about the actress, but at least she's given interesting storylines.

The King can't get out of his own way. I won't spoil what happens, but even though his decision pissed people off, the alternative was BLECH, so...

I will watch this as a miniseries/limited series, but I am not sure I would do multiple seasons of it. It's spurred me to re-watch Game of Thrones and you realize what an amazing series that was for so long, and then *poof.* Can't over-invest.

It's totally OK to post what happens, when it happens. No one is forcing anyone to click on this post. That's why I like shows that happen every week, when it's a Netflix show we all watch it at different speeds and can't discuss it together.

I don't think they are following the book anyhow, so spoilers are anyone's guess. Although Rheaenyra and Deamon do get along quite well...

Wait, did they do "it" or not? I thought Daemon ran away before it happened? NYT recap reads as it did happen.

I'm the PP with the question about "it"
The NYT assumes it was interrupted. That's what I thought too.

No, they didn’t.
She went back to the Red Keep and slept with Ser Criston Cole.

No, he got angry and left apparently. So they kissed and got hot and heavy but no "it". She then went after the guard.
At least that's what the after scenes said with directors.
